“Worth it with a warning”
Juvederm: Worth it
Pain: Uncomfortable
I tried Juvaderm with a friend, who had two invitations to a dermatologist's open house. I definitely would not have tried on my own, and Mary felt the same way. A year later, I still see improvement of the sagging laughline area between the outer corners of my mouth and nose; previously, I felt that I looked like a basset hound, and am VERY happy with the result.
However, I was not prepared for the pain, bleeding at the time of injection (lots!) and bruising afterwards. It was so unpleasant that I'm not sure I would do it again.
A serious concern: I was injected with Juvaderm between the eyebrows to reduce frown lines. My own doctor later told me that Juvaderm should NEVER be used in this area, as it may cause blindness. Botox is not a problem, due to a very differnt chemical composition.

Just to say that I have had a very bad Juviderm Experie Yesterday, I had two syringes of Juvederm Ultra 4 injected into my lower face. I was told that I could return to work and normal life immediately and that there may be a little brusing that would last 3 days. I could not return to work and my lower face is totally black and blue and inflamed I am in pain. There has been no improvement overnight and today the bruse is speading under my chin. It is impossible to cover with make-up. I telephoned my doctor who replied saying it is normal to expect brusing ....ANYBODY OUT THERE who is a novice to any form of injection into the face be careful. If you are THINKING OF JUVEDERM, BE PREPARED BECAUSE IT IS NOT AS EASY AND PAINFREE AS YOU ARE LED TO BELIEVE. I cannot leave the house and am horrified at the way I look. If anybody can offer an assistance or advice to reduce the swelling and brusing please let me know.

Juvderm - 4 days after treatment ! Thank you for your advice. It is now 4 days since Juvederm - there is a small amount of improvement, but I remain very very brused and swolen. I have applied make-up but it is impossible to cover the marks.

So sorry! My own bruises were at the injection sites, 4 on each side of my mouth, and my face looked like a shoe without laces!! Your bruises will fade, and who knows -- you may end up loving the results. Hope so!

I am very sorry to here all of the problems and bad exper. you all have had. I cant tell enough people that the best person to do any injections Botox or fillers is a board cert. plastic surgeon. I have never had an issue with the Doc that does my injections. No bruising, no pain (he numbs w/ dental block)no blood.

The first time I tried it, I was very bruised and had a lot of swelling. It took a week before I saw improvement. I recently had it again and my experience was much better. Just a few red spots at injection site which went away in about 3 days. All in all, I am very happy with the results. It was definitely worth it.

I had the same thing done back in December for the first time. I have the worse luck!! Honestly, I was so bruised around my mouth; everybody was telling me that I had ink on my face plus I had big knots all around my mouth. BUT, the bruises faded and I am pleased with the results. Even after 3 months, people are beginning to notice. It will get better, if that is any consolation. You must be like me - just one of the "lucky" ones who bruise badly. Be sure to massage the areas where the injections were given. I was upset at the beginning also, but I think you will be thrilled with the results. They get better every day. Good luck!! Let us know what you think.
