Juvederm Left Me Bruised... but It’s Still the Best!

Worth It
Spent: $735 in Roseville, CA
One of the worst things about Juvederm (or any injectable) is that some people are very susceptible to bruising. When this happens it’s no longer a secret little procedure you can do over the weekend and people will start asking who beat you up.

I’ve tried Juvederm twice now and although I hold it in higher regard than older injectables like Restylane (I’ve read too many horror stories and I wasn’t thrilled with my results either) I am not sure if I would recommend it to everybody.

I tried it in my nasiolabial folds first and ended up with a bruise that lasted about a week. I could cover that up with makeup so I wasn’t too worried even though I didn’t think it should have bruised as badly as it did. There was also a tiny, hard lump at the injection site.

After a few weeks I decided to try Juvederm under my eyes because once you treat one area of your face you’re bound to notice something else that needs changing! This experience was even worse and I walked around for a week and a half with two black eyes. These bruises couldn’t be completely covered with makeup and led to more than a few stares when I was out shopping.

I maintain that Juvederm is the best option for injectables, but if you think you will bruise easily then you need to discuss this with your doctor or change your expectations. You will not be going back to work the next day if you know what’s good for you!

Hi,

This also happen to me. I'm 37 years old, I had my frown lines around my mouth done and I too looked like I got beat up. I had a hard time trying to cover this up with my makeup leaving me very paranoid. I have light fair skin and tend to bruise easy. I do love this stuff and will in the future look for another way of coving this up with another source of makeup if this is possile. Any suggestions on the makeup ?

Absolutely don't do it. The painful was almost unbearable. I had bad bruises afterward and the bruises still have not totally gone away. And was pricey. If you are thinking of doing it, think again and save your money for some creams from Walmart.

IT is the best filler out there. The bruises for me was worth the ten years it gave me after they were gone. When I had it done the office I went to told me different things to avoid to try and help bruising. They also talked me into buying this stuff that heals bruises 50% quicker and it's all natural. I think alot of places just try to herd you in and out. I have experienced this in the past. A place should tell you in advance that you will prob. bruise and how to help it.

I spent $1450. On 3 syringes of the Juvederm Plus and am thrilled with my results after only 24 hours. I do have some bruising, but my doctor gave me a gel to help minimize that. I had the injections at the folds on each side of my nose and around the down-turned corners of my mouth and chin. So far it looks great, and my doctor said in about two weeks I will see the full results. It was a bit painful, but I fell it was well worth it all the way around.
