I had a red spot and some light brown areas on my face. I discussed this with a dermatologist. She first thought applying laser. Later when I went to her practice, she just used the IPL. She did not make any explanations.

I understood what she was doing is IPL cause I have seen the name on the machine and asked. As nothing was explained to me, I did not know what to expect. Treatment was very painful. It is not like rubber band snap but literally burning feeling. You can even smell the burning skin!

After the treatment now my face looks terrible. Severe brown patches, darker than before, and various other bruising and damage. I will wait a few days, before I do anything. Will let you know what happened later.

It sounds like the doctor didn't explain the procedure and expected results in a manner you could understand. It is NORMAL for a brown spot to become DARKER first, before it shrinks and flakes off. Call your doctor if you have any questions.

You are panicking over nothing. Had you done your research, you would read that this is the process for the purpose of doing WHAT YOU WANTED in the first place. I hope that you have figured that out by now.

I have been going for chemical peels but it was not working so I tried the IPL but the technician didn't warned me of the side effects either. The pain was terrible and my face was on fire. I couldn't drive fast enough to get home. WHEN I looked in the mirror I had square burnt spots all over my face. I haven't left the house since the procedure and I don't want my friends to see me like this. I am sooo embarrased. Today is my third day, I am not in pain anymore but I have square scabs all over my face, I have a dark complexion and am afraid that my face is going to look worst off now. Does anyone has a positive comment? PS I have been using an over the counter antibiotic cream.

i would get some vitamin/antioxidant/mineral lotions on your skin in case of dna damage since the laser burned through your superficial layer. the setting was WAY too high and this puts you at great risk for other complications. i would go to your clinic and seek medical advice for the burns. also try to prescription strength everything!
