I just got IPL last night, for facial spider veins. They did my cheeks, nose and chin. The pain of the treatment was bad, but bearable. But by the time I drove home, I felt like my face was on fire!!!! I cried for three hours straight, and had two icepacks on my face. I even rang my family and cried on the phone to them. They thought I should go to the hospital as I am known for having a very high tolerancy for pain, and this was very much unlike me!

It eventually became less painful after taking strong painkillers and the icepacks for 5 hours, however I am still feeling some pain today. I also have every section of my face done covered in brown/black dots, which were impossible to cover with makeup and an absolute embarrassment at work today where I had to chair two meetings!!

I'm 24 years old with very fair skin. Cannot see any results due to so many brown spots.

My Doctor: name not provided

They were fine for my botox, but not so good with this!! From what I've read I shouldn't have felt anywhere near this much pain!

The black/brown spots after IPL is the sun damgage brought to the surface from the IPL. They flake off in a couple of days. The only thing the IPL did for me was to get rid of my sun spots. The roscea on my right cheek is lighter, but the blood vessels on my chin are still visible. My skin looks smoother. I am 53 and grew up in San Diego (sunny). I know it takes about 4 months for the "full effect" of the collagen to replenish. I paid $1700 canadian for a package of 5. For the price I was expecting more. But, I'll give it another couple of months

That is what IPL does. There IS "down time" despite what you read. Expect to be out of sight for at least 2 days after this procedure.
