Worth It
Spent: $9,000 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
I had always had a pouch at the bottom of my abdomen, after having a c-section with my second child I bought a home gym, dieted, worked out every day religiously, even hanging onto arm rests of my gym and slowly lifting my legs straight out and holding them for 15 seconds each, I did about 100 or so of those per day. After 3 years I finally had to face nothing would help my gut, I also had 2 medical doctors advise me that while the exercise was great for my health, I was wasting my time and energy trying in vain to get rid of that "apron" that a c-section leaves as the lower ab muscles have been cut and the vast majority just do not grow back at least not like they were pre c-section. I would get so frustrated when shopping for jeans or any type of pants or shorts, if I found a pair that would fit me perfectly and look great, they would not button or snap right there in the front lower abdomen right where my c-section incision had been. If I bought any pants that would snap around that area they would be huge and baggy everywhere else on me, it was awful I felt so fat and ugly no matter what I wore and a bathing suit was completely out of the question! The physicians who had advised me I was actually wasting my time trying to get rid of my "apron" also advised me to get a tummy tuck. They both told me in order to achieve the results I wanted I really needed to have the surgery. So a few months later thats exactly what I did. Immediately as soon as I woke up I could see and feel a FLAT TUMMY!!! I can now button my pants, jeans, skirts, everything because my entire tummy is much tighter and the excess "glob" I call it has been removed. I have no regrets whatsoever I am very glad I opted for the surgery. Although I knew it was major surgery, I nearly "chickened out" when I was changing into my hospital gown that morning, then I lifted my gown up and looked in the mirror there in the dressing room...that changed my mind! I was scared to death but I had a great surgeon and healed rather quickly. I still have some numbness in my abdominal area, but that is a tiny price to pay to be rid of the "glob" and not to be self conscious, not to mention being able to wear pants or skirts that fit the rest of me! I wanted to share this in case there may be someone contemplating this surgery and isnt sure which way to go...I wont say there is no pain afterwards because as with any major surgery there is it but with the help of pain pills the first 3 days are the roughest then it rapidly gets much easier, it just depends how bad you want or need the procedure. ..trust me its well worth it!!

Thanks so much for that comment, I really needed it. I am scheduled to have my surgery on 11/16/07 and have heard (3) stories were ladies passed away after the surgery and it has me freaked out. I have the same issues that you had with the jeans not fitting and I my self esteem is just terrible because of my glob! I have a board certified surgeon that performing my surgery and his office has been very very kind when I call with question. Your story has definately made me feel alot better. I just hope that I don't chicken out before then. I had a c-section 6 yrs ago and I am assuming that the risks of the surgery are about the same. What is your thoughts on this? Do you think it felt like having a c-section or worse?

Hi, thanks for sharing. I have a tummy tuck scheduled in 4 days! I've been reading all the different opinions here and some of it is scary! I've had 9 surgerys before and 4 kids so I think I can handle it. Reading what you wrote is definately making me feel like the pain will be well worth it. Thanks!

You sound like me! Please share your surgeon's information. I'm in Cinti and would love to know.
