“Not Worth the Effort, Time and Suffering and MONEY - Israel”
Spent: $5,000 in Israel
Posted 1 Aug 2011
I started treatment with "Invisalign" over 4 years ago, because of a gap between my two front teeth, and was informed that the treatment would last 18 months to 2 years. From the beginning I was given a set of aligners which, after number 8 or 10 (do not remember exactly) the aligners did not fit.My orthodontist took more impressions and I was given a new set of aligners. This scenario repeated itself four times.
Eventually, I was sent for ANOTHER session of panoramic pictures of my mouth and I discovered, that instead of improving the situation, it became worse. The bottom part of the two front teeth were brought closer, but the top was made further apart. The teeth were NOT made closer in a parallel manner.
Complaints are not answered (letters and emails), and the fax does not get accepted either.

My doctor is great! The problem is lack of communication with Invisalign people who don't take responsibility (put the blame on the doctor and don't admit that Invisalign won't work for everybody. Now I'm having braces in the traditional way.
I'm so sorry to hear your outcome with Invisalign was disappointing.
It is my understanding that the doctor still sets the treatment plan with Invisalign, and is responsible for determining if a patient is a good candidate or not. Did the dentist tell you otherwise? I would be very curious to hear about that.

I can only imagine how frustrated you must be. I have posted a question to our doctor community in the Q&A section asking them if the dentist or the Invisalign company sets the treatment plan. Hopefully their answers will shed some light on who sets the treatment plan.
