Not Worth It
Spent: $1,449 in Carmel, IN

The manager of the clinic I went to convinced me to sign a $1449 contract agreeing to pay for a package deal of 6 IPL treatments for pigmented age spots, spider veins, and ruby spots, saying that I would not get the results I wanted in fewer treatments and that this was the most "economical" way to remove the spots.

After 3 treatments it was becoming apparent (to me) that NOTHING was happening, but again the manager assured me that they could increase the settings and I would eventually get the results I desired. Since I'd already paid for the 6 treatments, I went ahead and followed her advice. Now, after 6 treatments, I still see no results, and am at present having to fight the owners of the clinic for a refund. As of this writing they are still balking at returning my money.

My advice to others: DO NOT agree to a nonrefundable package deal for IPL treatments unless you are willing to take a financial risk on a procedure that does not work for everyone! Remember that they have to sell their product or go out of business and will promise you the moon in order to do so. Make sure you understand all the risks and terms BEFORE you pay. I could kick myself for being so naive!

My Doctor:

I will never again go to a treatment center that is run by clinicians rather than a doctor, and I will certainly never again sign a contract for a series of skin treatments. I now understand that these clinics have only a few procedures to offer and must sell them to you in order to make a living. The doctor I'm seeing now has many more options to offer and we re-evaluate after every treatment. This, in my view, is a much smarter strategy!

I, too, was roped into this same agreement. I had wonderful results with IPL. After about 4 treatments my red blochy face was no longer red. It actually looked great. Then I went out in the sun and it all came back. $1500 for nothing.

The question you should be asking when having this procedure done is, "How much experience do you have?" An experienced operator can do wonders. I won't let anyone less than an RN touch me with this equipment. They have the critical thinking skills necessary to trouble shooting difficult treatment areas. As for the person who went out into the sun and it "all came back", one of the first things we teach our patients is to use proper sun protection (colorescience sunforgettable is a powder and has titanium dioxide as well as zinc oxide, which works very well). When you undergo these treatments you are making a decision to change your lifestyle. You already know you are susceptible to sun damage, so you must always wear sun protection when out in the sun to prevent the "undoing" of your successful treatments. I recommend patients have one follow-up photofacial each year after completing a series.

Better no results than the horror of the scars left on my face and many others by a doctor with experience. She made me feel it was my fault and she would not admit any responsibility. This is doctor in Tampa who has the money to run their commericals durning Dr Oz and The Doctors.....terrible karma
