“IPL Looks to Have Worked...still Waiting. ”
I had IPL done 5 days ago at the suggestion of a few dermatologists to treat sun damage. I am 35 years old with fair skin, light hair and definitely did not take the necessary precautions with sunscreen when growing up.
For some reason, over the last few years I have noticed a lot of damage and it really bummed me out. I tried some of the pigment gel but the Drs thought with my skin type and the damage itself, IPL would be best. The procedure itself was good - I would definitely recommend using the numbing cream. It won't take away all of the discomfort but will help tremendously. I know a lot of people have used this analogy but it does feel like a rubber band snapping. Make sure that whoever is performing the procedure does a test area first. This will help determine the level they should use.
For about an hour after it was uncomfortable and felt pretty hot, but that faded rather quickly. I woke up the next day and was surprised at all of the dark spots that came out. I am assuming that is all of the sun damage that I hadn't seen before. It has only been 5 days and they have definitely faded a bit but since it now seems like I have more damage than i ever did before....How long will it take for it to fade completely?
