I got invisalign when I was 30 and did NOT want to be wearing braces. I had very crowded bottom teeth and mild crowding on top. They did have to pull a bottom tooth to use Invisalign. Had I done regular braces they would not have done that. Now I only have 3 bottom teeth between my canines which is not symmetrical but no one can tell. I stuck a piece of cotton in the tray where the tooth had been pulled so no one could see the space but it close very quickly.

It worked fast and I was really happy with the results. You have to be SUPER discipline with them b/c you can take them out!!! You HAVE TO KEEP THEM IN even when they HURT!! You have to brush you teeth after each meal and be careful not to drink anything but water with them in or you will stain them.

I have kept my last tray as a retainer and I sleep in them about every other night so they don't migrate back. But you have to do that with conventional braces as well. Overall, good experience for an adult who does want a silver smile!!

"They did have to pull a bottom tooth to use Invisalign. So it can happen with regular braces too.I prefer invisalign so more than regular braces.

My orthodontist told me that they would not have pulled the one bottom tooth with regular braces BUT it would have taken MUCH longer to move the teeth and push that bottom tooth in place. It was only one tooth. Plus, I would have had braces on at 30 which was more my concern.

The retainer was part of the whole cost ($5000). My ortho even threw in a teeth whitening session as part of the package!
