I have moderate crowding in my upper front teeth...
- 1 Aug 2011
I have moderate crowding in my upper front teeth that I have always been self-conscious of. As a professional in my mid-twenties I was suitably hesitant to go down the traditional braces path. After researching my different options I found Invisalign to be most suitable given my apprehension with a mouth full of metal.
Before I started my treatment, my main concern was with the buttons (attachments). I'd done plently of research and looked at as many pictures on the internet as I could and thought that while the aligners might be invisible it was the buttons that gave it away! I started my treatment late last week - I was so nervous as the orthondontist attached the 'buttons' but upon looking in the mirror was pleasantly surprised by the result. Really, you can barely notice them at all. I have 8 in total (4 top, 4 bottom).
After being pleasantly surprised with these, I have to say that I was more than impressed with the aligners. Honestly, you can barely notice them at all! I went home and showed my parents and neither of them could tell I was wearing anything, even when I pointed them out. It's the same story with everyone I've shown so far.
I havent had any real pain as such - more a pressure on my teeth. The main annoyance is taking them out to eat, but on the bright side it means I can't just pick at food, I need to plan when to eat. Also, it forces me to take better care of my teeth than before which could never be a bad thing.
Overall, at this early stage I am very impressed and so glad I went ahead. Couldn't recommend it more highly.
That is wonderful that your buttons aren't noticeable. I have heard a lot of people be unsatisfied with how noticeable they are. It sounds like your dentist must have done a good job of placing them.
