Day One "Ouch" - Boston, MA

Well let me first start by saying I'm a big...

Well let me first start by saying I'm a big baby when it comes to the dentist. I stress and groan every visit. I'm 47 and have had messed up teeth my whole life. My wife jokes and calls me Mr. Ed. My dentist for years has talked about invisaline to cure an overbite and crowded teeth. Well last year I decided enough was enough. I needed my four wisdom teeth removed and survived that nightmare. Next I needed another tooth that was so crooked it had to be taken out.

Well I received my first tray today and with a quick explanation from my dentist who said take the trays out when you eat and try to keep them on for 22 hours a day. They went on easy enough with about two hours of discomfort. I proudly showed them off to my coworkers. Well lunch time came and at 1pm I was strarving. I went into my bathroom and attempted to take the trays off. I had tears in my eyes, drool on my face and took 15 minutes of agony to get the trays off. I eventually stuck a toothpick under one side to pry them off.

Please someone tell me it won't be like this every time. I could stand to loose ten pounds and I feel I will lose the weight quickly for fear of taking these things off.

Well I'm still a baby and the invisalign has...

Well I'm still a baby and the invisalign has been great. I have noticed movement of my upper teeth. The only problem day is the first two days of the trays. I've to take some advil prior to a new tray. It can be very difficult taking a new tray out. I've learned to eat soft food during the day bananna's yogurt. As a result I have lost weight. Overall doing great very happy with invisalign.

Great review?

Thanks for the update, Mr. Winston. Glad to hear Invisalign is working out well for you. How much longer is your treatment supposed to last?

The first few days can be very painful. It gets easier once your teeth begin moving. Try gripping the aligners at one corner in the back, or use a paper towel to get a better hold. I'm in my 50's and got invisalign last year to correct a deep overbite. I'm almost done and although there is a definite improvement, the results are not what I hoped for.

Hey! I'm sure you have gotten the hang of taking them out by now.. it does take a few times to figure out just the right angle and pull. I also find the first few days of each new tray can be difficult to get off.
