Worth It
Spent: $2,400 in Greensboro, NC

I am a 48 year old female who since the age of has 5 wanted beautiful teeth.

I had a minimal problem on my top teeth which REALLY bothered me - my bottom teeth were a bit more mis-aligned which oddly enough did not bother me as much because they didn't show up much in pictures.

I found that I was an "express case" - only needing 10 sets of aligners.

With 6 weeks to go, I can say I am extremely happy with the results on my top teeth. They are almost perfect. My bottom teeth have a ways to go to be straignt and I'm not sure they will be completely straight in 6 weeks, but we'll see. Even if they are not perfect, I think I will be happy with the result.

I have one major piece of information to share that I have not seen mentioned anywhere else. BEWARE of certain kinds of toothpaste!! I had never had any big problem with the inside of my mouth being irritated. Suddenly, my mouth became VERY sensitive to my aligners. After a week of taking them out constantly because they bothered me so much, it finally dawned on me - I had changed brands of toothpaste just before the problem started. I had switched to Crest Vivid White. I immediately stopped using it and went back to my old brand (Colgate Total) and the problem began to clear up within 24 hours. Amazing... I guess the Crest Vivid White was just too strong and made the tissues inside my mouth very sensitive.

So, for any of you experiencing irritation from your aligners - try changing to a milder toothpaste.

I'm curious about the cost of your Invisalign procedure. Did it really cost you $2400? What was the length of time you had it on? Also, what did the procedure solve for you; if you don't mind me asking? For example, did it correct overcrowding, spacing, or etc.? I appreciate your time; thanks a lot.

No, it did not cost me $2400.00 out of pocket. I received a $200.00 discount from my Doctor (he was offering the discount as a promotion that month). My insurance paid for 50% of the cost. So, my out of pocket cost was $1100.00 My treatment lasted 5 months (called an 'express' case). It corrected crowding on my bottom teeth and rotated one of my top teeth and also corrected very mild crowding on top. My problems were minor compared to many - which I think is what Invisalign is really best suited for - minor issues. I am currently wearing retainers every night and have been doing so for the last 2 months. My teeth have not shifted back - they look just like they did the last day of my treatment. I need to wear my retainer every night for another month, then can wear once a week or so. Hope this helps!
