Update - 9 months post

It's been about 6 months since my last update, so it's probably about time for another! I'm back to exercising, lifting weights, and doing all the normal things I did before surgery. I feel great most of the time.

A few weeks ago, after being out on the lake all day, my right breast really hurt. I could not figure out what was wrong - it almost felt like the implant had moved. It seemed to get better after a few days, so I did not worry about it. Plus, I have a follow up with my surgeon in Sept. But, after taking pictures today for this update, I noticed my right side looks lower. Weird. It may be normal because everything feels ok. I'll find out soon!

The biggest challenge I've personally had is finding bras and figuring out what kind of clothes look best on me without making me look pregnant!
I determined that Victoria's Secret bras just don't work for me. I got one and it never feels quite right. The underwire does not sit in the crevice below my breast and it is supposedly the right size bra. I've found a few bras at department stores, but am still either a 34DD or 36D depending on the bra. I did find a fantastic running bra (pictured in one of the update photos) ("Juno" by Brooks). That thing holds the girls in tight. I love it...except the putting it on and taking it off part. That's a little tricky, but once it's one, nothing is moving anywhere!

My stomach scar is still very visible as is my belly button. I did have to get a steroid injection into my belly button to help soften the scar tissue some. It helped a bit, but the redness is still there. I can see a few places on my stomach scare where the line has faded into white. My doc said it takes about a year for all of it to fade to a white line -- we'll see. With my lovely fair skin, it may take longer for me!

I am still glad I did this and have no regrets. I love not being self-conscious about my belly and love how my breasts look in clothes. I will say I'm still adjusting to having a well-endowed chest. ;-)

Before and After pics

I have to admit that taking these pictures felt really awkward, but I knew I needed to do it! I have spent so much time on RealSelf reading others stories and looking at pictures -- and it has been so incredibly helpful to have this support community! Even tho I've never posted before, all of you who have posted have helped me in so many ways, so thank you!!

Fortunately, I happened to take some before pics a week before my surgery, and I waited until almost 3 mos post to take the after! My scars are still fading (this apparently takes a year) and I was told the 3 month mark is when they are usually the most red. But, I am still thrilled with my results.

Dr. Capizzi used Sientra Gummy Bear implants and placed them behind the muscle (425ccs). My left breast is slightly larger than my right, but not enough to have 2 different size implants.

I love - love - love how my clothes fit now around my midsection!

The only thing I worry about is finding a bathing suit bottom that comes up high enough to cover my scar -- all my existing ones are too low. But, at the end of the day, that's really not a big deal!

I'm off to VS this weekend to try on bras for the first time and am very excited!

After deliberating for years, I finally did it! Dr...

After deliberating for years, I finally did it! Dr. Capizzi is amazing and did an outstanding job. The hardest part for me was explaining this to my kids (daughter in particular). But they were both understanding and my daughter was excited for me. The first few days post surgery were the hardest - and my son was most upset seeing me in pain. But overall, recovery has been very smooth. I was up and around within a few days.
To give you an idea, Prior to surgery, I ran 3-4 xs a week and averaged about 3 miles/ run. Two months post surgery, I started lightly jogging again and am almost back up to 3 miles. Now the tricky part Is supporting my larger chest when I run! :-)

My stats....5'6" approx 130 lbs, small build. Before surgery, I was a 36 very deflated B cup, sometimes A depending on bra. (breastfed both kids for ab 1 yr each). I went with sientra mod profile (natural shape) 425 ccs. I also had a purse string lift and full tummy tuck.

I'm not 100% sure of my new size yet but think I'm going to be a 36 D or 34 DD. -- exactly what I wanted and perfect for my frame. My waist is amazing and I have an hourglass figure again! I'm still shocked when I see myself in the mirror. No more hiding my bulge.

I would highly recommend this surgery to anyone who is contemplating it. I wish I had done it sooner!

I have a few before pics but I've not taken post surgery pics --I will do that and post both soon.
