First of all.... this has been a long time in the...
first of all.... this has been a long time in the making.... and one day I said... TODAY is the day that I am going to make this happen... FOR ME!!!!
I had done sooo much research on the internet and had already decided who I wanted to use.... DR. BASU and his "pain block"
I called on Feb. 19th and made my consultation for the 25th.... The office on Fannin is absolutely beautiful and the staff was AMAZING!!! From my first phone conversation with Vivian... I knew I had already made the right choice... My husband was with me on the consult and my patient coordinator was Linnea! She was the sweetest and knew the answers to every question that I had plus some! Dr. Basu came in and I was SOLD!!! He was so patient and clear and "matter of fact" and when I was undecided on getting implants he stated his honest opinion (which was NO he didn't think I needed implants... which is less money in his pocket......) so I knew that I could trust him from that moment on.... we discussed everything from start to finish and went into detail about this "pain block" that he uses and how it works! NO PAIN...... SIGN ME UP!!!
We left there without setting up a surgery date (absolutely felt no pressure from anyone to book a date) My husband and I had a lot to talk about as far as the amount of the surgery and what was the best way for us to "pay" for it and to make arrangements for my job and someone to take care of me.....
Everything seem to fall in place just at the right time.... We were back on March 5th for my pre-op and surgery was scheduled for March 13th...
Pre-op with Elizabeth, the office manager, went great!!! We were still undecided (well my mind was made up but my husbands wasn't... ) about implants.... so Elizabeth interrupted Dr. Basu's lunch and he came in and "showed" us what the results would look like without the implants and said if your not happy with the size then you can come back in 6 months and we will do implants and we'll work with you on the cost.... BUT he said I wouldn't be back! :)
Surgery Day..... you can not imagine how excited I am... and nervous... the thought of the pain and the recovery was starting to sink in....
5 hours later and out of recovery... I'm not feeling a thing... My mom is going to be taking care of me... (husbands just don't get it) The first night was great EXCEPT for the compression garment... holy moly those things are tight... I don't hurt and there is NO PAIN... it's just hard to breath with that wrap so tight... I had cell phone numbers of the office manager and a nurse and was constant contact with them... they text and called to check on me and that made me feel "taken care of" second night was great... slept all night - except to pee every hour and walk a little...
today marks 2 weeks and I've already gotten my drains out and I am actually working a couple of hours each day..... (I just get tired easy.....) I feel great and LOVE the results... still lots of swelling around my tummy but the scar doesn't look at all like what I expected... I will post pics soon....
