I am so thankful for and highly recommend Dr. Schusterman!
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 and had a mastectomy of my left breast. I wore a prosthetic breast form for 3 years until I heard about Dr. Schusterman from a co-worker who had done extensive research before getting a breast augmentation. I visited Dr. Schusterman in 2009 and he and his staff made me feel extremely comfortable. I decided he was the doctor to do my breast reconstruction. Although I had enough tissue to have a tram flap procedure, I opted for a silicone implant. The process to stretch my skin with an expander went very smoothly and caused me no discomfort. I was very pleased with the final result. Dr. Schusterman did a wonderful job making the left side match my own right side. Last year (2012) I learned that a have the BRACA1 gene mutation making me (as well as my sister and daughter who also have the mutation) at a high risk of developing breast cancer again in the opposite breast. After much consultation and prayer, I decided to have a prophylactic right side mastectomy and, of course, I went back to Dr. Schusterman to give me a new breast on the right side. I am just a day after my surgery to replace the expander with a silicone implant and can say that this has been the easiest surgery yet. I didn’t even get my usual nausea as they took great care to prevent the sickness ahead of time, giving me a patch behind my ear. I can say it worked wonders. Although I have not seen the final result yet (haven’t taken the surgical bra off yet), I am confident that I will be happy. My daughter went elsewhere for her tram flap procedure and has had nothing but problems. Her surgeon had moved out of town, leaving her with a very disappointing outcome. At my urging, she contacted Dr. Schusterman and she is in the process of getting the ball rolling on fixing the mess left by the other surgeon. Dr. Schusterman has a heart for breast cancer patients. He is so caring and highly skilled. I would trust no one else to work on my body.
