Day 2 and Day 3

I only took the pain medicine on day one. There is not real pain after day one and I only took it because I was not sure if the pain would be major. I have been icing and as the swelling goes down I can see more of the stitches on the upper lids. On day three I started using warm moist eye covers (purchased from TJ Maxx). The warm seems to be addressing the bruising.

Stitches are itchy and the cold ice pack helps relieve some of the itchiness. I do cold in the morning through late day and then I do the warm late evening and night. The warm also helps get some of the swelling to settle (if that makes sense).

Day of the Procedure

In preparation of the surgery the doctor started me on antibiotics as well as gave me instructions to start supplements that would reduce the bruising like Arnica Montana. The procedure took around 2 hours and the staff was great. They explained everything that was going to happen and the last thing I remember before I woke up was the doctor drawing on my eyes and asking me to open and close. The care after was good as well. A few hours after I was home Dr. Ahuero called me to check on me and to answer any questions. That was perfect since when I left I was still a little out of it. I had one or two questions and it was nice to get them answered verses letting them linger and possibly doing something that would not be the best for the recovery.

The best thing that I started was applying ice packs for 15 minutes at a time or more. The cold felt so good. I placed gauze between my eye and ice pack. The ice pack I used was for the eyes. I purchased from Ultra. The icing really helps with the swelling. Also sleeping with your head above your heart helps with the draining. I had one red blood tear on the right side and the left eye had some blood pooling. Totally normal per the doctor.

Before Pictures

Here are before pictures. The issue that I went to Dr. Ahuero for was to address the under eye bag removal. Since I was going to be under I decided to do the upper blepharoplasty too. My mom is in her mid 60's and had the upper blepharoplasty done so I figured I would get it over with ahead of schedule. LOL.

Dr. Ahuero is very intelligent and talented doctor. She was transparent with what I was going to expect and how to heal best after the surgery. She called me a few hours after the surgery to check in and see if I had any issues or questions. I appreciated this quick call.
