“Lasik Revisited 10 Years Later - Houston, TX”
Spent: $4,000 in Houston
Posted 1 Oct 2011
I was -6.00 diopter in nearsightness. After surgery I was 20/20. Starting in 6th year, my nearsightness returned. I have lost about 1/3 of my vision correction in the last 5 years and require eyeglasses to drive at night. So my point is while the surgery is permanent, the vision correction is not. And anyone having this surgery needs to realize this.
They'll tell you only a small percentage experience cornea regression. But the reality is everyone will lose some vision correction over time. Personally, I think the collagen strands in the cornea, which are cut with the laser, eventually grow back and force the cornea back to it's original shape. But most in the industry are in denial of this fact, because Lasik is a multi billion dollar industry. So let's not ruin a good thing $$$$$$$$$

Sorry to hear your sight hasn't stayed exactly as it had post surgery. I can see where that would be a real bummer after having gone through the procedure.
There was a question posted in the Q&A section about getting a second round of LASIK performed. I thought you might find some of the information the doctors shared to be interesting. You can click here if you would like to read their answers. :)
