I had the Palomar Fraxel 1540 done exactly two...

I had the Palomar Fraxel 1540 done exactly two weeks ago for hyperpigmentation. Photofacials have worked well for me, but I was assured this would be better. The pain was intense, but I expected that. What's upsetting, so upsetting, is that 2 weeks later, my face looks worse than before I started. It hasn't peeled, and the spots have just gotten darker; I've even gotten comments on it. Rather than having smoother skin, there are these fine little bumps - like milia - that turn into acne. I now have to wear makeup to even out my skin tone, and it's clogging my pores even more. I look aweful, and I'm sick about all the money I spent. I had gotten my skin looking halfway decent with the photofacials, and now this. Do you think it's too soon to tell? Is there anything that can be done to correct it?

Great review?

In regards to Omoyeni: that is very unfortunate that it happened to you in Dubai...we currently live here and realize that there are ALOT of horrible doctors here (amongst other things...yeah, sure they have spectacular buildings, etc. but QUALITY is HORRIBLE) For those who are looking to come to Dubai for such procedures, you really have to look into their credentials. Do your research ahead of time (in your case, him performing that treatment in the same week is a BIG no-no). From the Fraxel research, I've found that it has to be done ONLY ONCE A MONTH for at least 3 or more sessions.

I am italian and I had IPL and it turned dark under my eyes. The dostor also hit my vein under my left eye which caused intense pain. I called and she decided on FRAXEL restore...does not say much but 6 treatments at 400.00. I am at the 3rd one and I am truly scarred with hanging under eye skin that is rough and crepey. She also went beyond the orbital bone and made me look 20 years older. I am so upset and now Ihave eye brightener with the acids..and thats why went in in the first place. DO NOT GET FRAXEL< IPL..if you are olive toned or scar dark after a cut. I am ruined!!!

I have always had acne ever since i can remember and have used all manner of products with no results. When i learnt about laser, i was excited and willing to give it a try.I went to Dubai six weeks ago for hair removal and acne treatment using laser, and the treatment was ministered to me twice in one week before i left for my country. To my dismay and horror, my face started turning black. I now have terrible pigmentation all over my face and usually wear layers of make-up when going out. This experience is very painful to me considering the amount spent for the trip and treatment. It would have been better if i never set out in the first place. The doctor who performed the procedure promised that it would clear in a few days and that laser doesnt cause permanent adverse effects. But it is getting to two months now and the pigmantation have not improved. A friend said the pigmentation could have occured because i was given the treatment twice in the same week which should not be. I also think that the intensity of the treatment during the second treatment just days after the first could have caused it. what can i do to address this issue?

hi, i agree with you . not everyone will get a good or great result with fraxel..i am a licensed aesthetician. i am from malaysia. i am 33 years old , i started to sell skincare products when i was 12. so , i think i can say that i have at least 21 years of experience in skin care. to me, fraxel is for those with a very fair or light skin tone . for asian or hispanics or people of color, it tends to cause post inflammatory hyper pigmentation. this kind of pigmentation problem usually takes a very long time to dissolve, sometimes it will not go away. recommendation: 1. go to those salon that has a taiwanese or chinese, because usually they will carry the ultrasound facial.. ultrasound facial has been around in asia for over 20 years before it was approve by fda 5 years ago. i am a skin brightening ultrasound facial expert. if you can afford, have this treatment atleast every 10 days for the first month, then evry 2 weeks for maintenance. this treatment not only for even skin tone, but it will reduce pore size, improve texture and smoothness. this is a miracle treatment. maku sure the salon use those serum that has arbutin, kojic acid, licorice extract , small amt of vit.c for this ultrasound infusion. 2. stay away from hydroquinone. stay away from harsh chemical peel and microdermabrasion, because they will worsen the post inflammatory hyper pigmentation. 20% gycolic peel is okay, but need to be follow by skin brightening ultrasound infusion. remember sunblock is very important. 3. i used to be a product manager for pola cosmetic of japan and lendan cosmetics of spain. so i really know a lot of their skin whitening range. pola has a "white shot" that is $175 and lendan has a "whiteline fluid " which is $80 . after cleanse and tone the skin , use white shot atleast 2 times aday and the other one atleast once a day. it is okay for the product to overlap and mix. do not worry. lastly use the "multi-vitamin and retinol serum " from emergin-c day and nite as a intensive soothing serum. i been using white shot for 3 years, retinol serum for 8 years, and whiteline for 10 years. 4. any question, you can call me 501-2400708, mail me sengooi@aol.com. there is more to talk about skin whitening ,but hopefully you can digest all this information
