Settled more now in my new skin. Face feels more relaxed within as repositioned muscles and skin heal, and more normal feelings return (immediately after surgery you are (well I was) very 'aware' of your face/surgery. Thought (and expected so see) in that relaxation, some/small amount of tiredness/fall of skin/muscles etc., return, but not at all! My face, and its new look, remains fresh and very natural. The biggest change for me is psychological - I absolutely do not need the reassurance of a mirror, just the knowledge of knowing that I now feel, and look more youthful. The confidence in me in my everyday life has, on a personal level, changed. From the mundane grocery shopping to the social evenings out, I no longer think about what people think and see (though I am very aware that this is My judgement of them on what they see in me) and whether they do judge my face or not, is now not a question I question myself with. Therefore, what I wanted, expected, and got, was my confidence back. Had my mid-face and neck lift not turned out so well, perhaps I would be writing something different, but it turned out extremely well, and once again I thank my surgeon Dominic for that.

A Month In

Saw Dominic for my month review. All going well. Told the scars are looking good for the time-scale, so now it's a waiting game for my body to do the rest - scars to settle and lighten. Every time I have been reviewed (at one week, and at one month so far - next review 3 months) Dominic takes new photographs. This still shocks me. As I've mentioned before, looking at my face in the mirror seems natural and normal, but looking at the comparison makes me realize what great results have been achieved. My husband also took mobile photographs whilst we were out enjoying London after my review, and I just burst into a broad beam when we looked back at them - I just look So much fresher, and with more youth. It's going to be more expensive than I thought - this surgery lark! Want to throw out all the tops and jumpers I've bought in the last year or two trying to hide my neck!!

Day 20 - Feeling More and More At Home

First of all I can't believe it's been nearly three weeks since surgery! Normality comes quickly with a Quicklift. I've noticed a comment on this site which asks why choose a Quicklift over a Facelift? Quicklift IS a facelift. I had my mid-face and neck fully lifted - underlying muscles lifted/repositioned/anchored, and the skin re-draped (I'm sure Dominic will put me straight if I've said something incorrect) but this is my understanding. Quicklift, and Dominic's tailoring of these procedures and methods, is easier to recover from. No general anaesthetic, no heavy sedation (unless wanted) no drains, no hospital stay, short recovery times. Personally I feel lucky to have been in a position, and at a time, when we can now safely have methods which give us the results we are looking for, and not be at the cost of a lifted face 'not looking quite right'. In this respect, I cannot thank my Surgeon enough for understanding and providing the skill necessary to give such a pleasing and natural result. This morning my husband sent me a text, it read "it's brilliant, your face has more youth and structure". I gave Dominic the structure to work with, he gave me a more youthful, natural look..........and most of all my confidence back.

I first met Dominic in early October. He's very approachable, listens, understands and then works with you to achieve your goals. I felt totally comfortable and in control of something that eventually I would have to leave in the control of Dominic's hands as my Surgeon, to give me a real, refreshed and more youthful appearance. Yesterday I went to have my stitches removed (day 9). Afterwards Dominic, myself and my husband compared the before and after photos - I was really shocked! I guess I quickly forgot the old me and have easily and fully accepted my new look. When I look in the mirror now I still see 'me', not a different person, but not the tired person that used to look back at me, just very refreshed. I don't looked pulled or unnatural (I'm in my fifties) just well and more youthful. This is the outcome I want/wanted, and I feel most people want from their surgery. This is where an understanding of your goals is crucial, and of course a great amount of skill needed. As far as the surgery goes, I found it to be easier than I expected. Words that come to mind are 'uncomfortable' and mild to moderate 'discomfort' mostly with sleep positioning. I used ordinary pain killers for two days, reducing to night time dose only to help with being in one position at night for the first week. I can already sleep on my side now with the firm support of the strapping at night only. I am returning to work today.
