I had always had a set back chin, I hated my profile. It was such a minor thing, but it got to the point where I would shy away from having my photo taken and refused to tie my hair up - this actually caused more conflicts in my life than you'd think.
I saw multiple Doctors, one being Dr Philipe Chout, who my friend actually ended up going too. He ripped her off, gave her an implant too big, claimed to have left the country and then just point blank ignored her. I also went with her to pop into his clinic and his receptionist informed her that he was still operating a few doors down. Years later, she's just had the implant removed, her money wasted and genioplasty which worked wonders. Genioplasty was an option for me too, but I am nowhere near brave enough and honestly an implant just seemed easier, a decision I stand by.
The next surgeon I saw was Dr Julian De Silva, who's receptionist initially 'forgot' about my consultation so I had to wait another month. I got a discount, but still had to pay. I had the same feeling I had around Dr Philipe Chout, which was that he was just in it for the money, I was enquiring about rhinoplasty on top of a chin implant, and he went crazy with surgery names telling me that I needed this, that, and every surgery under the sun, giving me a ridiculously huge quote. I stand by that money isn't an object when you're playing with your face, but half of the surgeries were unnecessary and even I was aware of that.
Lastly, I met Dr Bray, who, firstly didn't charge at all for the consultation. He was open, honest and made the experience a good one. I trusted him instantly and he told me, for the look I wanted, I needed one thing, a chin implant. Lipo was unnecessary. I only wanted a small projection and he levelled with me completely. My face wasn't his play doh, he understood what I wanted for my face.
The surgery itself was as painless as surgery can be, I blame Dr Bray for it's ease. He worked magic and before I knew it, my face had been transformed. I could already see the improvement with the swelling. I'm still a little swollen (6 days post op) but I just had my stitches removed. I'm mostly waiting for my smile to come back but I have full movement of my muscles, I don't expect the oedema to all dissipate within less than a week. I had no bruising what so ever (I didn't think bruising was normal but I'd seen a few pictures/videos of people who had implants and they were bruised all over !), just a small scar and having to wear my face bra every night, which after tonight I can stop :). The pro's are everything, I feel more confident about my whole face, it's all evened out. And to me, there are no cons, but Dr Bray is mostly to blame for that !
Tips for if you're about to get/have a chin implant:
- Stock up on soups. They say you can eat solids instantly but a 'face bra' limits how wide you can open your mouth and opening your mouth a lot is just uncomfortable.
- Avoid talking. You probably can't even talk at first.. It's day 6 and with swelling I still mumble a little, but don't try and force yourself to talk instantly.
- Don't shy away from Nurofen. It's my life saver, and it'll be yours too.
- Sleep with your head elevated. It really brings down the swelling.
- Ice !!! And lots of it ! Ice was just amazing, put in a food bag, wrapped in a towel and snuggled into my neck, words can't even describe the relief. And on top of relief, again, it reduced my swelling significantly.
- Netflix :P! Keep your mind busy, don't do anything strenuous. Use your time off to hold your nice comforting, numbing ice pack to your face and finish that last series of Lost Girl, just try not to get tears into your cut once it's all over :(.
I think that's everything, if I have any more I'll update this :D.

After seeing a few surgeons and feeling uneasy about the constant misinformation, I met Dr Bray. He is a miracle maker, both psychologically and aesthetically. He knows what looks good on people, I trusted his judgement instantly, he also manages to make you feel instantly at ease. Being very down to earth and honest is rare in a surgeon, on top of being incredibly friendly. After seeing my friend get a botched implant, I was very wary.. But Dr Bray made me feel comfortable instantly. He answered all of my questions at the consultation and even further questions that I emailed to his PA, Lucy, who responded within 12 hours. Having seen people deal with previous surgeons, I was very impressed with their efficiency. The whole surgery was as painless as surgery can be, and it was done really quickly but really well as he and his nurse worked effortlessly as a team. If surgery were a sport, they'd be at the top! All of his staff were catering, lovely and extremely comforting ! :). If you're looking for a surgeon, then look no further, he really does cater to your needs and takes care of you as well as delivering results to make you feel better. I owe my new found confidence to Dr Bray and even though I'm still a little swollen (6 days post op), I already adore the results !
