Not sure yet.... Had it injected twice! First time I had very little to no bruising. We went conservative the first time and at two weeks we could tell I needed more in left eye and a drop or two in the right. Unfortunately she hit a blood vessel this time and I swell up like a balloon. This time I have to puffy bags under both eyes... Now she did not inject much in cheek area on right.... I'm going to give it time and decide if it was worth it or not. After first injection I was pleased with results... So well see if all goes well...

Its Been Almost 2 weeks since 2nd injection....

Its Been Almost 2 weeks since 2nd injection. Swelling is getting much better. After this experience I would recommend Radiesse for Cheeks. I had a much better experience with Juvaderm for around the eyes. When Radiesse was injected she did not inject in the hollow of my eyes. She put a lot of pressure at the hollow and I could tell she did go very deep at the cheek bone like she was supposed to... Ill post another pic in 2 weeks and let everyone know my progress. Thank you for all your comments!

VERDICT: Its not worth it... Too Risky Use Juv....

VERDICT: Its not worth it... Too Risky Use Juv. instead.... I had much better experience with Juv.

Doctor put me on prednisone... hope it helps?

Ill keep u posted!

It's been almost 3 weeks and nothing has changed....

It's been almost 3 weeks and nothing has changed. Steroids have not helped much. I'm pretty sure its inflammatory issue. Area is not hard or lumpy . It's puffy and swollen. Antihistamine has helped the most for me but have to take it everyday. Also, avoiding high salt foods. I have to wear heavy cover up make up too....

Waiting it out.... Hope it's gone by our big summer vacation!!! I don't want to look like this all summer...

It is slowly getting better.....

It is slowly getting better.....

6 weeks and not much has changed... Think I am...

6 weeks and not much has changed... Think I am going to go to Dr an hour away that did my ba and see what her opinion is. Maybe she can put some juv.. in around the area to blend it a bit.. I do not know... really do not want to look like this for another few months

Well its been a little over 3 months and my eyes...

Well its been a little over 3 months and my eyes are getting better. at the 2 month mark I saw a noticeable difference. Several weeks ago I had the new filler Beletero injected at the creases to help hid the bags... This new filler is injected very superficially so it really helped! I could use a little more but at this point I dont want to over do it since ive already been through so much. I am going to leave things alone for few more months and see then if I could use a little more of the Beletero. I will never do radiesse again... Once this clears up I am certain I will have better results with juvederm and the new Beletero filler!

Well... I've see 2 PS's to see what my potions are...

Well... I've see 2 PS's to see what my potions are.... One suggested under eyelid surgery and he would remove the product bit by bit and get rid of excess skin. The other suggested leaving it alone for another 6 months and see if the product has disolved. He alos, suggested Ulthera treatments under the eye to help with the fine lines in the mean time. I think I will do the Ulthera and wait it out 6 more months before I make a decision to do the surgery. It has gotten so much better but im not there all the way yet.... :( PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT allow anyone to put this product any where near your eyes!!!!!
Great review?

I had Radiesse last year around my laugh lines and I liked it and it looked very natural. Had no side effects other than a little brusing. My dr was runnng a special for Belotero and you got a free syringe of Radiess so I did both around my laugh lines and chin. Within an hour of gettng the injections I started to swell and couldn't move my face. My lips turned inside out, called angioadema and I had to go to the ER and was injected with ephinephrine, steriods and benedryl. It was a very scary allergic reaction. My dr. thinks it was the Belotero but said some people don't have reactions the first time to radiesse. I've finally turned to normal but it's not worth it to me. I looked like a freak for 2 days and a chipmunk for about a week. I was lucky that my tongue didn't swell but the swollen lips were enough to scare me off. Since the filler only last 6 months, I felt it was a waste of money. I paid $475 and will now have a hospital bill on top of it.

What's TCA?
Anika1 8 Mar 2013
Hi, I had a similar issue w/Restylane and tried everything to fix my under eyes- Ulthera, fractional CO2, vitrase, VI Peel, more restylane, more vitrase, sclerotherapy, belotero, more vitrase- It was crazy and I was desperate. I must say the thing that helped most was when I finally got 2 medium TCA peels, and they were by far the least expensive. I would try that first- the doc said the inflammation also helps dissipate product. I am sorry, but I did not find ulthera to be very helpful under the eye, but you might want to try just to see if it will melt product. TCA worked better for improving skin and wrinkles.

I scheduled for a TCA peel next week.... I figured the ulther would not do much for fine lines but worth trying too see if it helps with filler..... I hope that combination of few things and time will help me avoid surgery in the near future

I'm so worried and upset. I think I'm at 10 days of the beginning of a restylane nightmare. After speaking on the phone to my PS after sending him the pictures he asked for, it turns out NOT to be swelling. Under my right eye is overfilled, and under my left eye is sporadic bits of over filling. Before my injections, my main problem was fat protruding through my weakened right eye muscles (damn Botox). But I used to look perfectly smooth as long as I didn't smile. Now I look like a bike rolled over my face -- both smiling and not smiling. I'll be seeing him next week. In the meantime he instructed me on how to massage the mess of bumps, puffs and little craters. I'm doing my frantic best, but no movement of the stuff. I don't know if the lesser filled eye should be injected a wee bit more, at least to match the fuller eye. I'm not willing to go down the vitrase road. No! I'm already thinking future lower bleph. @Anika1 -- you say have a TCA peel before all the other numerous failed remedies you've gone through. Can you describe the difference the peel made for you? Did it noticeably dissipate any filler? Or, did it more so just help the condition of your skin after enzyme injections, etc.? Thanks, Lydia

I understand now why you keep the idea of future surgery in your mind. I see my current frustration very likely turning to panic -- if I don't have any improvement. What is a real bummer is that I would have to wait who knows how many months to have a lower bleph. I mean, right now there's too much filler under my eyes. And I guess a PS would rather a waiting period to allow some to dissipate. If that is even a reality...

Hi 3406anon, I understand that you're concerned with your bags and what to do about them. In my recent comment to your review update, I took the time to share what I personally have been through and all the research I've done on Radiesse, etc. You've said that in the past you've had a much better experience with Juvederm. I commented that I very recently had Restylane under my eyes. I'm bummed out because the first 3 days of natural mega swelling has gone. And now, I have semi-circular looking bags, not unlike your pics. I asked you if you remember having any short period of time, after you had your successful Juvederm, with bags. And for how long, if you did? It would be helpful for me to know.
3406anon 5 Mar 2013
With the Juvederm I did not have any swelling at all! I made a bad mistake and strayed from Dr. turkle because she was such a far drive for me. Radiesse should never be injected near the under eye and should be injected very deep to the cheek bone. It will be a year end of April and progress is at a snails pace. I'll post info and pics after the ulthera treatments! For months I looked in the mirror hoping it would just go away and nothing.... Oh mine did get worse before it got better.
Lydia in NJ 6 Mar 2013
Thanks for the info. I can see I'm in for a long wait as result of the restylane. My bags aren't lumpy or bruised or swollen like normal (expected) post injection procedures. They're soft. I'd rather be a bruised mess. At least then I'd think I just need to heal. PLEASE do post your post Ulthera pics, especially your before and after a few months when Ulthera changes can start to be noticeable. Maybe the eye area treatment works faster since the skin is thinner and more delicate, compared to say -- thicker neck skin. GOOD LUCK!!!
Lydia in NJ 2 Mar 2013
I feel your frustration after a year of waiting for it to settle down. I think you're wise to wait longer as the second PS suggested. Ulthera, from what I've read, may be helpful. Supposedly, one should get Ulthera before any fillers because it may indeed lessen the filler effect if done afterwards. (I'm talking about filler work that is non-probematic and successful). So....it may help you as it possibly "takes away" the filler results after several months. And in your case, you would be happy for this effect. The company that makes the Ulthera machine, last time I read, was working on creating a wand (or whatever is used) for the under eye area. Initially, Ulthera was too intense for so delicate an area. I imagine that the company now has the technology to treat under the eyes. But Ulthera anywhere on the face does work over several months, as I'm sure you've read. I hope it gives you some improvement while you're waiting for the product to dissipate more and more. I had Restylane injected in the hollows of my eyes almost four days ago. I had been so annoyed with creases/orbital fat protrusions under my eyes for a while now. (After having Botox, in the past, inappropriately injected under my eyes, etc., the muscle that should "hold in" the fat just stopped doing its job). My PS very meticulously, bit by bit, built-up a kind of platform that amazingly did at least help my under eyes when I smile and/or make any facial expressions. Also, I had Radiesse for my nasiolabial folds and to slightly fill my mid face where I have lost volume. I'm slender and my face was looking a bit gaunt. Anyway, due to the technique to fill-out my under eye creases, the very top of my cheeks got a nice bit of filling. But honestly, I'm really nervous right now. I know Restylane causes swelling. And I was swollen the first 3 days. But now, even though the swelling is less, I have two "pillows" still, just where your swelling has lingered. You said that you once had a much better experience with juvederm under your eyes. Since restylane is more like juvederm, do you remember how long any swelling lasted after your juvederm? It's still tender. I hope this is a good sign? Please let me know, if you remember! I'm getting nervous. I'm glad you have a game plan. It sounds logical and I hope it helps you. A lower bleph, as your first PS suggested, might make you wish you had your current swelling back! Under eye surgeries are known often for complications. Being still in your 30s, I believe your Radiesse puffiness problems will eventually calm down. Really.
Ghonolulu 4 Mar 2013
I'm in my late 40's, and I had Botox injections in between my eye brows and corners of eyes which worked well, but starting to wear off already! I asked the PS if there wAs anything he could do for some minor lower eyelid wrinkles and suggested Radiesse, all this was done in the beginning of December of last year and I still have swelling and now bags under my eyes! I will never use Radiesse again! It's not considered a filler, but an implant, which I did not know? It last much longer. I heard its great for cheeks and other areas, but not around your eyes! I've tried juviderm and restylane, but my body obsorbs it too quickly, just a waste of money for me! I am going to have a lower eyelid surgery and the plastic surgeon is going to try and scrape out most of the Radiesse! I hope this works??!!!!
Lydia in NJ 5 Mar 2013
@Ghonolulu--I'm in my late forties, too. When you say you had the Radiesse in December of last year, I'm pretty sure you mean 2012. Right? Which is about 3 months ago. I ask because if you meant 2011, you would be closer to seeing "some" dissipation of your Radiesse. It's not an implant, just a long lasting filler, unlike the HAs (rest and juv). I had Radiesse in my cheeks when I was younger and because it lasted so long, my cheeks looked good, but the overfill I had pushed up my under eyes when I smiled, creating lines eventually. So I had Botox around my eyes to try to help, but the Botox only eventually weakened my under eye muscles so that they (especially on the right side) stopped holding in the natural fat, creating ugly creases/protrusions. Since I had the restylane under my eyes almost a week ago, I've been researching all this like crazy. Some people after even a year, like 3406anon, still have the bags from Radiesse after a year. But some people just take "months" to see the bags start to lessen. Maybe you are just the "months" type, which would be encouraging. I'm freaking out a little right now because the typical swelling we all expect the first 3 or 4 days is gone on me. But now I have non-tender and innocent looking pillow puffs just about where 3406anon's pictures show hers. If they remain, I'm going to buy giant sunglasses and wait at least 6 months before even thinking about a lower bleph. Just had a thought! I also had some Radiesse injected in my nasiolabial lines. I wonder if the stuff can spread upwards into the lower eye area!!! Who knows? Anyway, being a few months shy of 48, after at least 6 months, I would personally consider a lower bleph. Only, a bleph is filled with possible awful complications. And, at our age, we'd need a canthopexy to make sure our lower actual lids don't droop. And about a million other possible problems. You should get at least two more PS opinions. I'm certainly not wealthy! But...if you have the money, and you do at some point decide to have surgery, go to the best PS you can afford. Even travel to go to best one possible! We're not young 20 or 30 something's looking to minimally have NATURAL fat repositioned beneath our eyes and then nice younger skin springs back! Honestly, I've got to take a break from constantly looking in the mirror. I want to see my PS now and get his opinion. But I just know he'll say to give it a few more weeks. But my gut feeling is that it isn't just usual swelling :( Did you get married yet? If not yet, I wouldn't rush into surgery before at least 6 months just because of your wedding. You've got to get several PS opinions. BTW, did you have any temporary "bags" after you first tried Restylane? I know you said your body absorbed it too quickly. But if you did have swelling/bags from restylane, do you remember how long they lasted? Lydia

I'm experiencing the same affects as you! So upset! Supposed to get married in a few months! Ghonolulu

I'm so sorry... It's miserable. I saw another ps last week and he recommends lower eyelid surgery. And I have another appointment next week for a second opinion. The ps said that he has to pick out the product piece by piece... He said it can last 2 years. The filler I had in fall helped mask it but I'm finding the only way to resolve this issue is surgery.

Hi, 3406anon. Looking at your Before and After Pictures, I noticed that you originally had the Radiesse injected to fill-in the lateral lines that came up under your eyes, when you smiled. I have had a kind of opposite experience. Four years ago, I successfully had Radiesse injected to give my cheeks some volume. What happened about a year or so after my injections, was, because my then fuller cheeks were "pushing-up" whenever I smiled, I subsequently developed awful under eye lines. (I shouldn't have smiled so much!) Even though the Radiesse has long worn off, I now have flat cheeks again with the added bonus of lines under my eyes when I smile, or even just when I raise my now natural cheeks, in ordinary facial movements. It is soooo aging! Thinking about getting either Restylane, Juverderm, or the new Belotero under my eyes. I am glad to see that the Belotero injections really made a nice improvement for you. My point is: Even successful Radiesse can have an unattractive reaction, after a few years! Trying not to smile....
3406anon 13 Oct 2012
Ive come to realize the same issue.. it has increased the line under the eyes. I am going to see another plastic surgeon later this year and see what he recommends. I hope I can treat line with filler for 5-10 years and then have a lower eye lift in my mid 40's don't want to do it now in my late 30's ... but if he suggests that a lower eye lift would be best. I may do it within a year or 2... we'll see!
Lydia in NJ 13 Oct 2012
I'll be keeping an eye on your post to see what your ps suggests. I am so afraid that a lower surgical bleph will not only change my eye shape, but removing the now excess skin will, for me, prob require an incision to keep my eyelid from dropping, causing all sorts of medical issues. I keep asking myself what's better -- having different shaped eyes OR getting rid of most of the creases and looking younger again? Being younger than me, you may have a better outcome. I'm 47 now, but when I first so happily (and stupidly?) had my cheeks injected so nice and full, I was a truly young-looking 42 year old. Oh well... Please do post what your ps says, later this year. I'm curious about how long your ps believes that fillers alone will keep you less creased! (Right now I have allergic pinkeye that I think I got from trying out an OTC eyelash enhancer. Anyway, around my eyes is some swelling that makes my creases so much less. It's like I had an upper bleph and the "perfect" filler under my eyes! Of course my eyeballs are bright red! LOL. ) Good luck!

Hi 3406 anon: I had Radiesse injected a little over two weeks ago and at first it was great. I went to a very reputable dermatologist upon a physician friend's recommendation, and no I did not research as my friend had it done and she looks great. I went because I wanted to soften the naso-labial folds in my face for an upcoming event--my daughter's wedding which is next week. He suggested that the Radiesse be injected in my upper cheekbone to lift the folds. Well, after about 10 days, I developed the same under eye puffiness you have. I went back to the doc and he said this puffiness would subside in about two weeks. I am not hopeful. Fortunately, I wear glasses so you can't really tell, but I was planning on not wearing glasses for the wedding. I don't think I will ever do this again.

i had the lump too and it wont go away for the next year or so but it will slowly shrink you can get another injection to even it out a bit or just leave it as is and do a touch up in 6 months or so.
MWTW5654 2 Oct 2012
Well, I did what 3406anon did and took antihistamines last night (had a good sleep!) and iced each bump for five minutes last night and this morning. They are looking better. On the positive side, the reason I went in the first place--nasolabial folds--look much better. I don't think I'll go down this road again--the fillers, I mean. Lesson learned! Thanks for your comments, LA Boi.

I had the same thing happen to me with the use of Radiesse under the eyes. It has been two years and still see color change where it was injected. I had a lower eye lift finally to get rid of the bags. The surgeon told me he could see it there laid down as a layer of plastic. He tried to scrap away what he could..Not worth it.
3406anon 5 Aug 2012
U r right so not worth it! I really hope it dissolves with in the year. I fear that I my have to have lower eyelid surgery much sooner because of this...
Helen67 29 Jun 2012
I just had Radiesse injected into my cheeks, smile lines, and corners of the mouth. I noticed on my left side there was a slight lump next to the corner of my mouth. I was concerned so I called my doctor and he said to wait it out until I see him in 2 weeks if it hasn't desolved by then he told me he could take it out by injecting something that would desolve the lump. Its been 5 days and it cleared up on it's own, I guess I just had first time jitters! Does anyone know how long it takes for this product to finish its process because it's been 5 days and I still can see the crease that goes down my face. I have noticed a little improvement but not a big difference I was anticipating! On my follow up visit should I get a little more injected or should I just leave it alone before something does go wrong? So far I am not completely satisfied! Anyones feedback will be greatly appreciated!!!
DepressedMess 12 Jun 2012
Woah! I can't believe they injected this in your tear trough area! That's a huge no no. This stuff is not meant to ever be injected in that area, WAY to risky since it can't be dissolved. This stuff can last for a very long time and in the tear trough area, I can only imagine it lasting 2+ years easily. Restylane is seen lasting two years in some patients (in the tear trough area) and is said to last only 6-9months in other areas.

Any and every doctor on realself will say NOT to inject Radiesse in the tear trough. If you are reading this review make sure you educate yourself on this!
3406anon 12 Jun 2012
For most... as i have researched it lasts 6-10 months... Hopefully I'm some where in there.. She did not inject directly in tear trough.. she injected at the bone. i think she over injected and thats why i developed the nodles. I would recommend staying away from radiesse at all costs because it cannot be dissolved. i usually do a lot of homework before doing anything and i don't know why i didn't this time .. now I'm paying for it. turn the clock back and i would not have done radiesse after what i know now.
