At the age of 36, after delivering two children...

At the age of 36, after delivering two children and feeling my family was complete, I decided to treat myself to breast implants following many months of nursing. Jump ahead six years to 2004, when I am blessed with the opportunity of becoming a surrogate/gestational carrier for a couple out of New York. Living in Boston at the time, and knowing just how much my children mean to me, I spoke with my family and we all dove in together, head first. Three months later I was pregnant and nine months later, in March 2005, I delivered their son via emergency C-section. In 2008, I agreed to carry for them again, this time delivering twins, via C-section. So in 2014, after carrying five babies and having two C-sections, resulting in bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome and an umbilical hernia, I am also now living with 15 y.o. breast implants that appear to have doubled in size. I had an orthopedic surgeon repair my wrists immediately following the twins birth because of the pain, but after speaking with a general surgeon, we decided to hold off on repairing the hernia given it's small size. Fast forward to now, and knowing that most medical professionals recommend implant replacement after 10 years, I decided it was time to see someone about my 15 year old implants. I had noticed not only the growth in breast size over the years but also felt what appeared to be air pockets. My breast augmentation was performed by a surgeon in Ohio, but with me now living in Colorado, I needed to find someone else. Having a career in medicine, including plastic and reconstructive surgery, I knew that a personal reference, preferably someone in the medical field, would be the best way to find a great surgeon and one highly respected by his peers. After finally giving into every excuse to delay further, I asked my girlfriend. Her husband is in pharmaceutical sales, (so knows the"word out on the street") and she had been a patient at The Center for Cosmetic Surgery and highly recommended them.

When it came time to make my appointment, I went onto their website and selected Dr. Vath after seeing his work in before and after photos. His education and practice philosophy just reaffirmed my choice in him. When I phoned the office, the mere fact that his first available appointment was six weeks out, though maybe not a good sign to an impatient person, was a positive for me and I knew then that he was obviously a sought after surgeon. The process leading up to my appointment went great with pleasant staff and phone calls/communication. When I first met Dr. Vath, I was actually shocked that he came and retrieved me from the waiting room himself. This was the first sign of a great doctor/patient relationship and what was yet to come. I immediately felt comfortable with him. He has both a social and professional side to him that comes across effortlessly. He was familiar with why I was there based on papers I had submitted the month before which told me he actually took the time to get to know me before I even walked in. I explained my reason for my visit and he was very attentive and listened to what I had to say. I didn't feel rushed at all and felt as though he was honestly there to offer what was best for me. He asked questions, got my opinions and then laid out some choices that he thought suited me. He showed me photos that gave me a true idea of what he had done/could do and what the end results should be. He didn't sugar coat anything. I had so much trust in him by now that I brought up the idea of an abdominoplasty (i.e. Mommy Makeover). More questions ensued, photos were seen and he gave me his thoughts. After undergoing the physical exam, he confirmed what we had talked about in his office and said he would also repair my umbilical hernia during the abdominoplasty. I felt so at ease with Dr. Vath the moment we met and the longer we talked I soon had no doubt he was a talented and gifted surgeon. His first opening was almost two months out but it was well worth the wait. Over the next seven weeks, in preparation for the surgery, my interactions with his entire team, were courteous and professional. When my surgery date finally arrived, Dr. Vath came in to see me prior to the procedure, spoke with my husband and answered any last questions we had. And once again, I found myself feeling absolutely sure that I was in great hands and that I had picked the best. My procedure went well and because he was upfront from the beginning, I was well informed and knew exactly what lay ahead in my recovery. He spent time with my husband following my surgery explaining how things had gone and answering any questions my husband had. The next morning following my surgery I received a call from Dr. Vath himself to see how I was doing. I just have to say that I have worked for six surgeons throughout my career and only one of those surgeons ever phoned their patient post-op to see how they were doing. It's rare! That just goes to Dr. Vath's character and caring side so I shouldn't have been surprised. As of today, I'm only 4 weeks post-op, but I am already so excited about the results. I don't think I could have found a better cosmetic surgeon had I searched the world. Dr. Vath's bedside manner is an 11 on a scale from 1 to 10. That says a lot! As for his talent....he is an artist in every sense of the word. He has a passion for what he does and it is evident in his work. There just aren't enough adjectives to describe Dr. Vath. Both as a surgeon/professional and as a person, he just really nailed it!
