Considering getting my nose done for over two years - Rhinoplasty - Glendora, CA
I've been contemplating get my nose done for a few...
1st doctor
i actually went on two consultations with the first doctor, because i felt nervous the first time, that i decided to go back again and ask more questions.
first consultation: i felt that he didn't go into much detail about what he would do to my nose or ask me many questions, he just went straight into taking my photos and doing an image simulation. he showed me some before and after photos, not much explanation and i didn;t ask many questions myself, i didnt feel too satisfied with the consultation.
second consultation: the second time i went i felt like he was much more comforting since he knew i was nervous. i felt much better about the experience, especially since i asked more questions.saw more of his before and after photos, and he showed me two girls he recently performed surgery on who had similar noses to mine.
2nd doctor
i was extremely satisfied with my consultation. he went into detail on how he feels that some doctors understate the recovery process and patients don't know what to expect. he gave me good details on the recovery process and what to expect, he explained very well what he would do to my nose and answered my questions with great detail. i felt more comfortable asking him questions. he did not show me any before and after photos.
my dilemma: the 1st doctor has more years of experience, especially in rhinoplasty, and he does more rhinoplasties in a month compared to the second doctor. the 1st doctor also has more reviews, however, i do know that reviews can be biased. the 2nd doctor went into much better detail what he planned to do to my nose, and noticed details on why i might not like it, before i even mentioned them to him. i already feel so overwhelmed on how i'm going to choose a doctor. is it something that i'm just going to know when i find the right one? i am planning on going on at least two more consultations, (more if necessary). i would really appreciate any advice on how to choose a surgeon and possibly any recommendations if you live in california for the san gabriel valley and inland empire area, thanks!

So I've been considering getting my nose done for...
So I've been considering getting my nose done for over two years now and i think i'm ready to finally take the plunge but still not 100% sure! i'm not sure why i started disliking my nose, i feel that the negative feelings toward my nose started about 2-3 years ago, so it has not been a lifetime feeling. i'm not sure if it changed or I've become more insecure but i now feel insecure about my nose. i'm on the fence about it, i don't mind the front view very much, but can still see some asymmetry. i hate my profile, and feel uncomfortable taking pictures because of it and overall don't like hoe my nose looks even in front views in pictures. i'm also worried about the cost, because i know it's a lot and i'm currently unemployed so i would most likely use a student loan to pay for it. anyway, enough on the background and my hesitation, i would love some advice from everyone! I've gone to two consultations, the first one didn't wow me and price was ridiculous (Beverly Hills doctor) and the second consultation wasn't bad, i loved the staff and still email the receptionist! price was much better, but i feel that i was so nervous that i didn't take advantage of the consultation and did not ask enough questions! i went to dr. elam in newport beach, ca. so if anyone has gone to him i would love your opinion! anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated. and for people that had a rhinoplasty, i would love to hear how you decided to go through with it. i guess i'm just nervous that i won't look like myself anymore, or that it'll look worse. thanks for any help! :)
p.s. i will upload photos soon!

Plastic Surgery is a business and unfortunately not all surgeons have your best interest in mind. Do your homework and make sure you consult with a reputable FACIAL plastic surgeon even if it means paying a consultation fee. Preferably a doctor that has digital imaging as a way to better communicate your expectations and learn of his/hers. Rhinoplasty is one of the most complex and difficult surgeries so it is very important to find a very skilled and experienced FACIAL PS.
Also, they won’t tell you what a major surgery this really is and that it can take up to 3 years to fully heal. Your nose will most likely be hard, numb, tender and swollen for several months or longer. Take your time and continue educating yourself….best of luck to you.
