My treatment experience has been pretty good besides the gaining of weight. I am struggling with that a lot! My plastic surgeon was awesome, he made me feel really comfortable, especially about the ,procedure.

I had my breasts augmented April 29 of 2008 with 350 cc's. By June 30, 2008 I had gained 11lbs. It's now Dec. 2009 and the weight has stayed. I have been dieting and exercising, but still those pounds wont come off. I was a constant 128/130 before the BA with never any weight problems. I do attribute this to the surgery. Also I had never had surgery before. Has anyone else had this experience, and if so are there any tips to losing the weight?

I am a Group Fitness instructor, and some tips that I share besides "good ol' exercise" is omit butter, mayo, and cheese. Tell me how you do in 3 months! :)

I can see wanting to attribute some sort of cause/effect to your weight gain, but it's unlikely that your surgery was responsible for that. In addition, there's the concern that you've convinced yourself that this is the only explanation, and so have effectively 'programmed' yourself that this weight gain is irrevocable, since in effect your breast augmentation is permanent (unless you go for another surgery, that is). Our bodies change, and for some people, that change is more noticeable than others. Wild guess, but what about the brand of BC (assuming you're on BC)? Maybe a change there will help? Something else I always recommend to friends is to avoid "sugar waters" like Coke, Sprite, Pepsi and the like. Even the diet sodas are trouble in their own way, but that's going off-topic here. There are some nice bottled green teas to be had, more likely at Whole Foods than at Target, but keep your eyes open and see if there's a green tea variation which you like. If the weight gain is driving you crazy, check out books like Ultrametabolism. It could be you just need to tweak something in your diet or eating/sleeping patterns.

I disagree espresso, I know it was from the surgery. I'm not on BC of any kind nor was I before surgery. Also I don't drink "sugar waters". I know my body and i'ts not a coincidence that I gained weight immediately after surgery. However I do agree that peoples bodies change, and I will check out Ultrametabolism. But though the pounds on the scale haven't changed I have lost inches in my waist, hips and thighs so I know the diet and exercise is working:)

One more thing to get tested is your Thyroid. I noticed I gained some weight, but most of all I was extremely tired. I had it tested and I was way low.

Very interesting. Well check out the various and sundry in Ultrametabolism and see if something sparks that "light bulb moment". Failing that, see about getting a referral to an endocrinologist just to make sure everything is golden. (Ultrametabolism even mentions tests to ask for which the typical family doc won't do.) You raise another good point, which is that it's more important to look at your body's shape, measure the inches, and pay less attention to your net weight. And if your shape is kickass (and your health is otherwise good), I can't see any compelling evidence for looking for problems. It's good to have your guard up, it's not good to be worrying.

I can relate and am struggling with the same issue. I had breast impants on March 20 2009 with 450 cc. I am 27 years old and always weighed 123-125. I work out 6 days a week and have a very strict diet, no soda no junk. Today, April 20, 2010 I weigh 138 and still can not get the weight off. This has been ever since the surgery. I do not take BC. Someone told me it might be water retention. It drives me crazy. I have tried every diet to try to get it off and nothing works. Is is possible to retain water for so long? I did get off Deprovera 3 months before surgery which i was on for 2 years. That is the only other thing i can come up with. Did you find out why you were putting on weight. I understand how it is frustrating to not be able to loose the weight.

yes, I totally agree with you. the same happenned to me as well as a variety of nondescript food allergies and feeling exhausted. There is a blood test u can do to test for silicone sensitivity at ACUMEN laboritories. No coincidence my result was definate silicone sensitivity. I am having them removed as soon as possible. You can actually have breast augmentation by transplanting fat from other areas of your body. Much safer and non toxic. Hope this helps you. Apparently silicone can cause alot of immune related problems in people, which is what Im being treated for now, and I can trace my health problems back to the silicone implant time

Dawn, I had my breast and tummy done in 07' and soon realized that instead of maintaining my weight at 130, I noticed the scale went up! I'm now between 135-138 lbs. I was unable to workout for 8 wks. My food intake and food choices can improve today, but since the surgery and getting older, it's a struggle to get down to 130 again. If you research the web more, you will find helpful information about the weight of silicone verses saline; not much to take note of. Depending on the implant and size, you can add just under 2-lbs (silicone 400cc)and a little over 1-1/2 lbs(saline 400cc) for the pair.

I had the same problem after getting my breasts done last year. Everyone thinks Im crazy but I was planning my wedding and got them done in November. I was dieting and excercising like always. Low calorie diet and trying to keep my weight down for the big day, but no avail. I went from 170 to 200 by December and have stayed at that weight for over a year now. I have tried everything to lose it and now I have notice that even though I have not gained a pound my breasts seem to be getting bigger too. I was a 38C right after my surgery and I am now a 40D almost DD. Any info you have would be appreciated.
