I just had the fraxel done a week ago and there is absolutely a difference. The swelling went down after three days and now there is just my skin healing from the actual laser as it is a little pink and dry. I read the negative reports on here and am assuming that whoever is doing the laser for these individuals is not going high enough. I didn't expect one treatment to be miraculous and recognize 15 years of acne is not going away over night. Also, just to inform any acne sufferers, I got rid of my (severe) acne by stopping dairy and is why now I can treat the scars. I can't believe more people don't know about this allergic reaction and thank god for fraxel!!!

Heather345, Where did you have your treatment done? I had my first treatment in Washington, DC and it was a fortune!!!!! I am really swollen expecially around my eyes. I didn't expect this at all. The redness and itchiness yes, but not the swelling. My doc didn't even prepare me for it! Tracie

I have been diagnosed with Melasma. I have dark skin (olive color). My Dermatologist suggested Fraxel as a treatment. I also use 4% Hydroquanine (not sure of the spelling) every night. I have consultate on getting a photofacial but was not recommended to me because of my high pigmentation. I also read in one of the reviews, the question about how old the fraxel machine is? Is that something I have to ask the Dermatologist? Would you recommend Fraxel for Melasma? Thank you, L.P.
