Worth It
Spent: $3,000 in California
I am 42 and am on my second Fraxel treatment. My dermatologist uses the Fraxel II which doesnt require blue dye on the face and is supposed to go deeper. I had a fair amount of swelling for two days after the first one. It also hurt more than I expected even with the numbing cream. The peeling began on day 3 and lasted a day or two. Nothing too bad I iced my face a lot the second time and the swelling was a lot less. I also took a vicadin before the treatment which helped with the pain. It was done on a Friday and by Monday I looked fine except maybe like I had a windburn. I have to say after 2 treatments my skin looks amazing...like a babys butt. In the last two weeks I have been mistaken for 27 and 24. I did not have a lot of sun damage or lines to begin with but it really has made my skin glow. My pores are almost non-exsistant. One more treatment to go. Something to keep in mind with fraxel is that the full effects are not seen for 4-6 months as this is how long it takes to generate new collegen. The cost was $1000 per treatment

thanks Susan for taking the time to comment on your treatments. I want to have it done but there seems to be such a mixed bag of results, I think it must come down to who and where you get it done and what level the laser is. Do you know what level the laser was at? The clinic I will be using also uses the Fraxel 11.

I wasnt sure what the level was but I got my last treatment yesterday and asked the nurse. She said she set it between 40 and 50 depending on the area. It depends on your skin type on how high they will want to go. The higher they go...the better the result but it also carries more risk.

Hi Susan, Can you tell me where you went to get the treatment done and was it done by a nurse or a doctor? I live in the Southern California area and am looking for a reputable doctor. Any info you can give would be greatly appreciated.
