Worth It
Spent: $850 in Phoenix, AZ
I searched for the fountain of youth for 50 years but had no luck and went for a chemical peel instead and guess what? I realized that chemical peel IS the fountain of youth (besides botox of course). I am a 50 years old woman from Phoenix. Age and sun (you know how Phoenix burns in the summer), took quite a toll on me and I started noticing that age had begun to show. I was wrinkling around the eyes and mouth and my skin was not smooth anymore. Tried all possible wrinkle creams, night repair creams but nothing worked. I realized that the only way to get a clean and a fresh face was to shell out some money and get a permanent solution to this problem. After several discussions with friends and family and detailed research on the internet I went to a well known spa in Phoenix itself. The lady there examined my skin, took many notes and then informed me that since my skin was very badly sun damaged, I should go in for a Phenol Peel. First I was scared, because my net research had told me that this is a very strong treatment but I was reassured that it would be the most effective one so I went ahead with it. It started with the usual cleaning bit, where I was given some cleansers to apply on my skin till the day of my actual appointment for the treatment. I was also told not to color my hair or wax. Finally my treatment started after 10 days. It was painful, no doubt. I could feel my skin itch, burn, sting, peel and swell, all at the same time. It took 4 days for the redness and the swelling to go. I also got some whiteheads and I recovered completely only after 3 weeks. The redness took longer to go, maybe 3 months but it was not very visible, especially under make up. The treatment took more than 2 hours, besides the cleaning, registering, changing etc. I didn’t drive back myself which was a good thing because I was uncomfortable and distracted with all that stinging. The results after my recovery were excellent. I was expecting a good outcome but this was more than what I had bargained for. My skin became fresh, clean and smooth. The area around my eyes and mouth has really smoothed out. I feel great now and am planning to get for my second peel soon. I was told to wait for 6 weeks before going again, but I decided to wait for 6 months instead. This is a great solution for wrinkles and Phenol is definitely permanent. The only time you will see wrinkles is when you age more but then, that’s a given. When you see new wrinkles, go in for another peel.

I heard the phenol peel can take all the color out of your skin. do you have color in your skin? does this happen? It sounds good for wrinkles but i don't want to have to wear make up to cover discoloration or lack of.
