LOVE DR. THOMASSEN!

It has been 2 months since surgery and I am still loving my new body...NO REGRETS!!! Dr. Thomassen has given me a gift that I can never repay him. He is a perfectionist! My self esteem has been increased and I am even pushing myself even more as I continue working out to maintain this new body! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Dr. Thomassen and your amazing staff!

Surgery completed!

I had my consultation with Dr. Thomassen, who i found on RealSelf, and I am 100% satisfied. I had my surgery on Wednesday 7th October and now am 6 days post-op.

The day of surgery I arrived at the surgical centre at 6:15am where I was processed quickly and taken to a private room to undress and start the entire process. During that time, Dr. THomassen came in and we had a chat while he drew and took measurements of me. Everyone was very professional and comforted my nervousness. Before I was wheeled into the surgery room, I'd met my pre-op nurse, my anesthesiologist, my surgical nurse and my post-op nurse.

Within an hour of my arrival to the surgical centre, I was being wheeled into surgery. I was given a shot in my tubes that the anesthesiologist told me that would feel like I had a couple glasses of wine...he knows his stuff! I was out cold before even reaching the surgical theatre!

I awoke hours later to my pre-op nurse calling my name. I felt as though I had a nice nap. My throat was sore from some tube being down my throat but other than that, I was fine. I also took some pain meds and antibiotics. My husband collected me not too long after. Getting in & out the car was exhausting and painful!

As soon as I got back to the apartment that we were staying, I took some more meds and quickly passed out. For the rest of that first day, I spent it on the couch, in and out of sleep. However I got up every hour and painfully walked to the bathroom...walking is so important!

The next day was a bit easier but I was still in pain and taking my meds every 4 hours, before the pain really kicked in. On friday I had a pre-op visit with Dr. Thomassen who assessed my progress and took the bandages off. I took my first shower since surgery after that...what a relief! I even washed my hair while my husband held my tubes for me.

Today, tuesday 13th october, I had my second post-op visit with Dr. Thomassen where he took the drains out...Yeah! Drains are a necessary evil, they are very uncomfortable and can easily get caught on drawer handles resulting in lots of pain! anyways, I am to wear my binder religiously and tightly for 6 weeks. Not sure how that's going to work out but I have the best intentions of doing it.

I fly home on saturday and have another post-op on thursday to endue that there is no swelling. I forgot to mention, I have been on meds and antibiotics since last wednesday and my pain reliever pills have finished twice and he has written me prescriptions to get them refilled. I have read that some women stopped taking their pain meds and started the Tylenol after three days, how is that possible? I have a high tolerance to pain and couldn't do that! The best I could have done was lower the dosage to one pill every 6 hours as opposed to 2 pills every 4 hours...and I thought that was improvement! in any case, I told him that I am going to try taking the Tylenol and see how it goes.

The pain is only noticeable when close to the time to take more meds and when I am trying to get up to walk to the bathroom. I am on a extra large L-shaped couch with matching foot stool. There isn't a recliner here and I didn't want to rent one. Im glad I didn't get the recliner because this chair is really comfortable and easy to get up and on...minus the pain.

Date set!

Hey everyone!
I went to see Dr. Thommasen in Fort Lauderdale and have set a date for my MM...October 7th! I'll be 31 on the 8th so this will be a great birthday gift..can't wait!!!

Dr. Thommasen and his staff were extremely welcoming to both my husband & myself. The exterior of the building was a bit off-putting but as soon as you open the door, you are transported to a completely beautiful space! We were made to feel comfortable from the moment we entered. I quickly filled out the brief questionnaire and was then escorted to see Dr. Thommasen who also greeted us warmly. First impression is important to me and I was not disappointed with Dr. Thommasen, instantly i felt comfortable, even standing half naked in front of him with my husband seated to my left. He answered all my questions and even volunteered information. My husband was also quite impressed and asked his own question, all were answered. One of the things I appreciated the most was the fact that I went for a consultation about a TT, and not once did he try to suggest that I get a Breast lift (which I need). It was only when I mentioned it that we spoke about it. To me, if shows that he's attending to what I want, as opposed to trying to get me to do more surgery (which would have increased cost). In the end, I decided to do the full MM...so exciting!!!

Provider Review

Dr. Thomassen

My husband and I were very comfortable with Dr. Thomassen from our first consolation. We appreciated the time taken to calmly explain and answer all questions we asked. I would highly recommend Dr. Thomassen as an efficient and effective cosmetic surgeon.
