Breast Augmentation on 8/31/12- Fort Lauderdale, FL AND LOVE IT! Fro Fort Myers, FL

I have wanted breast implants since I was a teenager. I want to have full big breasts. I am very excited to have the surgery but a little nervous that they will be to small. I have learned that 30cc is equal to 1oz of white uncooked rice. I have done the rice test to see how different sizes look. S

I am so excited!! Friday is the day!! Aug 31,2012. I am obsessed with getting my implants done. I finally talked to my pain management doctor about my surgery. My plan was not to tell him until after my surgery. I have Fibromyalgia and was absolutely terrified that he would say no don't do it but to my surprise he gave me his blessing and said I deserve it. Although the recovery will be difficult compared to most I think it will be well worth it. I has a surgery on July 6,2012. I had a endometrial ablation and a tubal ligation and a hysteroscopy. I literally though I was going to die from the pain. A few of the reasons for the extreme pain was #1 Fibro hurts #2 the retard Doctor have me Hydrocodone 5/500. I take Hydrocodone 10/325 and morphine ER on a regular daily basis so obviously what she gave me was NOT going to work. When I had my consult with my PS the first thing he said was we have to make sure we control your pain. That is a BIG BONUS!!. Then he told me he will not do my tummy tuck at the same time as my Breast Aug because of the Fibro and the amount of pain that would cause me. I have wanted Implants for a very long time but have finally decided to pull the trigger because I really need it now. I have lost 100LBS and after that and 2 kids my boobs are deflated. I am currently a 34D in Victorias Secret but if I put on a Baconette bra there is nothing out the top. I feel like I really wear a 34C. The PS and I both agreed that Moderate Plus Profile Saline Under the muscle would be best. We also both agreed that DD would also be good. I am 5'4" 135LBS but do have muscle and extra skin. I am big boned. He is saying 450-475CC. I have since done a ton of research and looked at thousands of pics and done the rice test and think that 500-525CC is where I want to be. I will update as much as I can and also post pics. I think there needs to be more info on Breast Aug and Fibromyalgia. Or and kind of chronic pain syndrome for that matter. I really hope this will help someone like me who is wanting to have an idea on what to expect especially with the recovery which is very scary for someone like me.

Ok tomorrow at 10am I have to be at the surgery...

ok tomorrow at 10am I have to be at the surgery center! I am so excited. Earlier today I started to have a bit of a break down, I was suddenly so scared. after about an hour I was feeling fine again just excited. I am in Ft Lauderdale which is over 2 hours from home. My husband and I decided to go up the night before and relax have the kids stay with the grandparents and get a really nice room with a hot tub in the room and order room service and hang out. I am so glad we did. The only issue is I can't sleep which is really nothing new for me. I am so excited and scared. I will defiantly update after the surgery and let everyone know how it went and how the pain is. I am only scared because of the thought of the pain. I have had quite a few surgeries before but after the very simple one in July and the horrible pain from that I am defiantly worried about the pain. Fibromyalgia pain is bad without adding to it but even though I have pain in almost all of my body my chest is one of the only places I have never had a issue. Well have a good night and I will update as soon as I can.

I had my surgery yesterday it went well. I have 525cc in both sides. I am doing much better than I ever expected. I was able to pick up the house some. I slept all night until 5:30am I woke up to pee and couldn't get out of bed because it hurt so bad. I took some pain meds and am doing better again. The only thing that hurts is my muscles. I love them and they look great. I have not taken the bra or bandages off yet but from what i can see I like them. I am by myself today so that will be interesting. As long as I take my meds I should be able to get out of bed on my own. I can't wait until later on today to take everything off and take a shower. I am going to post some pics.

Surgery was Friday and today is Sunday and I am...

Surgery was Friday and today is Sunday and I am doing laundry and cleaning up the house. I have muscle pain and a little tender at the incision site and an occasional burning but other that that I am good. They came out better than I expected. I am very happy I did it.

It is day 3 after surgery still doing good. Just...

It is day 3 after surgery still doing good. Just sore muscles and a little soreness at the incision site because of the bra so I have gauze padding the incisions. I am not having any regrets. I am glad that I let go and let the doctor do what he though was best. I told him the size I wanted and he took it from there. He wanted 450-475cc mod plus saline unders and I wanted 500cc so he ultimately used a 475cc implant and went to 525cc. I think the hardest part before the surgery is the obsession of the size. Am I making the right choice in size? Once I let go and just trusted in my surgeon everything went great. Everything I had read on women with fibromyalgia getting augmentation was very negative. I am happy that I took the risk and did it. Every experience is different and if you have a good Surgeon he or she will know how to manage your post op pain effectively and the experience will be much better than you imagined. So on the 3rd full day of recovery I am happy and have no regrets and no complications as of yet. All though I have had some gurgling from my implants which is kind of funny. Is there any advice on what I should expect next?

Today is my 5th full day of recovery. My breasts...

Today is my 5th full day of recovery. My breasts are softer and the feeling is coming back. I have had itchiness and more shooting pain in my nipples but nothing real bad. The only thing I wasn't expecting was the heat my breasts are hot. I am not sure if that is normal or not. But I am still happy with the size which was the one thing I was going crazy about before the surgery. I go to see the doctor on Friday for the first time since my surgery I am excited to make sure everything is going good. I am very very tired today I am going to try to rest. That is one thing I have done very little of. Next I have to start planning my TT and lipo.

My surgery was a week ago and today was my post op...

My surgery was a week ago and today was my post op I have not seen the PS since my surgery. Last night I get a call from the surgery center and they tell me the PS will not be there he will be at a different location. The place that I was supposed to go is 2.5HRS away the place they want me to go is 4 hours away. I was not happy. So they moved my appointment to next Friday so that will be 2 weeks post op and I am not sure if I have to get stitches out or if they are disprovable so I am a little worried because I can't go next week. I have no NO more time off work. Everything seems to be healing ok though the tape was starting to come off and it was pulling so I finished it off and everything looks good. My left boob feels funny. It is like I can feel it move a little when I am on my side and get up I guess it is going to take some getting used to. I am going to post a pic of my incisions and any opinions would be greatly appreciated, Do you think they are dissolve-able stitches? Does the incision look normal for 1 week post op? Thank You everyone for the info.

Does anyone think I should put triple antibiotic...

Quick update I did take out my stitches and am feeling great I am able to sleep on my side as well. I am at almost 2 weeks post op. I will update at 2 weeks.

Implants tend to be wider than a "natural" breast,...

Implants tend to be wider than a "natural" breast, therefore, many of us will need to wear a D cup, simply because the width of a C cup bra isn't enough.

We have our own chart here at Just Breast Implants, which works for most, but not all, people. If it does not work for you, you may want to go to and be measured by a professional, though this does not always work either.

To use the chart below, you will want to measure each breast. Use a soft tape measure to do this. Start where the breast starts at (near the side/armpit), and measure all the way across the fullest part of the breast. The fullest part of the breast is usually the nipple, but not always.

You will also want to measure the circumference of your ribcage. Do this by measuring just below the breast, in the area of the crease. Measure all the way around. This is your ribcage measurement.

If your ribcage measurement is an odd #, add 5" to get your band width. Example: 29" ribcage + 5" = 34" band.

If your ribcage measurement is an even #, add 4" to get your band width. Example: 28" ribcage + 4" = 32" band.

I used the above from http://www.justbreastimplants.com/size/
according to this I am a 36D. I have tried on quite a few bra's from Victoria's secret I wear a 34DD to the full coverage boxed kind and in that I am a 36DD.

So everything is going great I am now 2 weeks post op and I am back to normal I have been for almost a week. I don't know exactly why but I heal freakishly fast. My pain has been pretty much non existent. I have been doing things like normal. I am very happy with my decision to have my surgery. I do still have a bruise and am hoping it will go away soon. My scars are doing great. I am very happy that I did not go smaller. I have been very happy with the size until lately I think they got smaller. I want to get them bigger. We will see, I did not have the bruising at first after the surgery and then it all the sudden appeared. I am not sure why but I know I made it worse I kept on putting my boob back in my swimsuit because it kept on falling out the bottom after that the bruise was real bad and it resembled a small hand print. It is now starting to get better.

I am still doing great I had a large hematoma that...

I am still doing great I had a large hematoma that is now GONE. I am 4 weeks Post OP. I don't even realize that my breasts are there anymore they are just part of me. I am lucky because when I was 100LBS heavier I was the size I am now. Nobody knows that I had this done. When I lost all the weight I continued to wear the same size bra but it was very padded.
I am a little disappointed though I have still not seen my PS. Every appointment that is made they call the night before and cancel. I am extremely unhappy about that. I don't think it is the PS but the staff for the place he contracts at. He has his own practice and contracts through other places as well. I am lucky that I have not had any issues and I was able to remove my own sutures. I was planning on having a Tummy Tuck but I'm not sure about that. I am looking into alternatives. I am also VERY curious about the internal bra. Not really the laser bra but the internal bra. If anyone knows anything about either the laser bra or internal bra let me know. And if anyone knows some good alternatives for tummy tuck let me know.

Well it has been quite a while since I have...

Well it has been quite a while since I have updated. What can I say, I love my boobies although I do want to go bigger. Some day I think I will. My recovery has been great I have forgotten all about the additions. I have been working out a little and feeling great. I am down to a size 6 from a 18 a year ago. I defiantly have more confidence. But I am still conservative about my clothes but do show a little bit more than before.
The only complaint I have had is when I am laying in bed at night with out a bra on I can feel the implant a little and it has a little ripple. but when I am standing there is no rippling and you can't feel the implant. But that is minor and I am okay with that. As far as any kind of issues medically I have had none, I was so worried about my fibromyalgia being a issue and I have still had no added pain nothing different from before. I have had women ask me about recovery after surgery which I was terrified about and the one thing I can say is when you have your consultation with a surgeon make sure you are up front with everything and if that surgeon knows about fibromyalgia and about pain management then you will be good to go. My recovery was easy. The one thing that I am interested in doing is getting the internal bra. I know nothing about that though. I also really want my tummy tuck but am very scared to do that one. If anyone has any info on the internal bra I would love to hear about it.

Almost a year post op

I can't believe it has been almost a year. I love my boobies but do regret the saline. I do have ripples in certain positions. I have lost some more weight so I can also feel the implant when I;m laying down. I am a full 34DDD I don't think I look that big but that's the size I wear.

over a year post op

I can't believe how long it has been. I still do not regret getting my Boobies but I do regret not getting silicone. I can feel the implant when I lay down and it deforms when I lay down. I can't afford a revision right now but when I can I definitely will and I will go a little bigger as well because once they settle it seems like the implant is not as full. Which gets me thinking I wonder what size implant was used be cause I wonder if he used a smaller implant and over filled it which would help with the wrinkling. But even with that I can't imagine not having them
Naples Plastic Surgeon

I did online research and looked at comments by patients from several different sites. Not just the Dr's site. I met with the Doctor at my consultation and he made me feel very comfortable and answered all my questions and also gave me good advice. I have had a whole lot of after care appointments canceled by the surgery center and now over 8 weeks post op I have yet to see my PS. I don't dis like the PS I think he was absolutely great but the ball has defiantly been drooped on my after care. But as for his work and his knowledge he was wonderful.

So then you did finally get your post op visit. That's good. I am so happy everything has turned out so well. If you really trust Dr B on pain management, I think you should go with your TT. I am so happy for you that you are enjoying your new breasts!!!

I never did get my follow up. I have followed up with a doctor in my area.

Hi FD. I am so happy you are doing so well, but I do agree with BC. That is totally unacceptable!!! I can't believe you have not received any after care in 4 weeks. Everyone that I have spoken to that has gone to Strax has never experienced this problem. They've complained of having to wait a little long in the office on their appointments, but I've also heard of that from some of the other offices in South Florida. I've never had anyone complain abut their PS is not seeing them. 4 weeks without after care is a long time! I'm wondering if it's the fact that Dr. Basile has too many offices he is hopping in and out of. That is one of the things I found iffy about him and one of the reasons I did not pick him as my Dr. If I were you I would complain. You've paid your hard earned money and do not deserve to be treated this way. I've heard of some patients that are from out of town doing their after care consult via a video chat with their doctors, can he at least put aside some time from his busy schedule to at least see how your surgery is healing/coming along?

Flo, you look fantastic, but it is UNACCEPTABLE for your surgeon not to have seen you in the four weeks after your surgery! This is especially true if you had a hematoma! Are you sure that's what it was and not superficial bruising? How were you diagnosed, and how did it resolve? If I were you, I would attempt to contact the surgeon at each and every location where he practices and explain my dilemma. You definitely need follow-up this soon after your surgery, despite the fact that things appear to be going very well. You should not be responsible for removing your own sutures or having to guess at your progress. I would also be very cautious about scheduling another procedure with this doctor because of this issue. Anyway, you are looking SPECTACULAR, and I seriously hope you start getting the after care you deserve!

I think it was two weeks before they removed my steri-strips, but once they did I was instructed to use an antibiotic ointment (bacitracin with zinc) on the incisions before dressing them with gauze. Once the incision edges were fully and completely closed, I was able to discontinue the ointment and begin applying brown tape (micropore) or silicone scar strips. It's hard for me to tell from your photos if your incisions are ready for that stage, but they do appear normal. And holy moly your boobs look GREAT!

thank you! I did remove my stitches and the ends are closed. I have always healed freakishly fast.

No they didn't ok me taking them out. I don't know who it was that called. Simmona and Annia were the 2 that I delt with on the financing and they were but very nice and helpful. The woman that made my appointment was very nice as well but impossible to get ahold of. I am not sure of her name. Before my consult I tried to call her 10 times and kept leaving messages and emails and never heard back. I knew it was time for my stitches to come out. I have been through medical school. I figured out that my stitches were not disolve-able also once I actually got a good look at them. I am impatient so there was no way I was going to wait any longer for a call back from them. The MA that did all of my blood work and pic's and was with me through the consult was really nice I wish I could remember her name. The woman that was with me before surgery was also very nice. I don't know her name either. But the woman who called me to make my post op appointment was not very intelligent. I have no idea what her name is. There have been very few people I don't care for at Strax and with as many people as they have going through there everyday they do a good job. I know some people will slip through the cracks and unfortunately I am one of those people. It is ok though, I don't mind sometimes.

Awww... I'm sorry. So far I have liked everyone I have spoken to at Strax. They are so nice and helpful. One of the nurses (I think she's a nurse) insist on speaking to me in very broken English though and it's hard to understand her. I've told her I speak Spanish and have even replied to her in Spanish to see if she will speak to me in Spanish, but she won't. lol It's kind of funny, but frustrating because I don't understand her with her accent. Besides that, I love everyone there so far. Including the accent lady. lol But thanks for your reply. It has helped me a lot. I am also awful with remembering names, so making a note to myself to write down everyone's name I speak with. :)

And I'm with breastochangeo, your boobs look amazing! :)

Yikes! Ouch! You are a brave women. I'm such a chicken sh*t and don't think I can take out my own stitches. Who knows, I'll probably be eating my own words in a few months since I live 17 hours further than you. lol Did they OK you taking out your own stitches? I'm with you, they should have offered for someone else to see you. Do you mind if I ask who you spoke with? Who was your patient coordinator?
  • Reply
I'm so sorry you're going through this. Did you ask them about your stitches? They should be able to tell you if they will dissolve on their own or if they have to take them out. Don't they have another PS that would be able to see you? They should have your file and any of their PS should be able to see you. What office did you go to and what office did they want you to go to?

I went to the Lauderhill one and I don't know where they wanted me to go the girl just told me it would be a extra 2 hours. My doctor has his own practices to so maybe it was one of his own I don't know. But I took out my own stitches last night it didn't tickle but I feel so much better a lot less pain with them out. They didn't offer for someone else to see me which kinda sucks but I can't take off anymore work so I decided to just take out my own stitches. As long as I feel like everything is healing ok and I don't feel or see any problems I am ok with not going in but at the same time I paid good money for these and part of that is the follow up care but that's what happens when you live so far away.

I am so glad you are doing so well! I am also glad you are posting this for other women with fibromyalgia who are considering having a BA. You are lucky to find a good PS who new how to give you what you wanted while still working with your disease to give you the least amount of pain. I hope you continue to heal as great.

When are you going back for your TT?

Hot-cha! I can't say what to expect next since mine STILL don't look as recovered as yours do already, and I'm over three weeks out! But I agree with doit on not overdoing it -- remember that your body needs time to heal even though you're feeling well. So relieved to hear you're not having too much trouble with pain!! Congrats!

I'm not sure yet. I am considering Saline Moderate Plus 500cc. I will have to have my surgery staged though. That's actually the reason I did not go with Dr. Basile since that was his recommendation, but now Dr. Pane is agreeing. :( I'm sad, but know it's for the best. I will have my Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift on the 25th and then go back about 2 months later for the implants.

That is what I asked for the 500cc Moderate plus saline and he ended up using a 475cc implant filled to 525cc. I am so glad it is over. I had 2 weeks from my consult to my surgery and I was a mess thinking about it, I was so afraid about size and was so scared I would go to small. I was completely obsessed with the boobs. I finally decided to put all of my trust into my Doctor and I am so glad I did he knew exactly what to do to make me happy. Before the day of surgery my implant was going to be 450-475cc and the day of surgery while he was making the marks I told him I really wanted 500cc and he said he wasn't sure if it would fit but he would try to give me everything I wanted. I was shocked when I came out with 525cc I was also going to do the the tummy tuck at the same time but Dr. Basile advised against it because of the pain especially with fibromyalgia. That definitely made me more confident in him because he was giving up money for my well being. You have to let me know how the tummy tuck goes.

By any chance do you know what your BWD is? Are you happy with your size so far? I am so glad you were able to do this for yourself with your fibromyalgia. It was really sweet of Dr. Basile to concern himself with your pain and advise against the TT for now.

I will let you know how my TT goes. I like everyone at STRAX. Everybody seems so nice and helpful. Which is important to me because I am coming from out of town. I live in Pennsylvania, but my whole family lives in Florida (where I am originally from). I am traveling to Florida to have this surgery close to my family (Mom, sisters, etc...) so they can take care of me and my family (DH and little ones). Not that I don't trust my DH to care for me and the kids, but I think it will be too much for him.

What does BWD stand for? Ya I am very happy with my size I am measuring 34DD I was very worried that they would be to small but I am happy, from what I understand they still have to fluff I guess then they may get bigger. I don't know a whole lot about all of this stuff. Strax is over 2 hours from where I am in Florida but I am very glad I went with them. From what I understand the TT is a whole lot worse. (recovery wise).Your gong to need a lot of care after the TT I was told that you can't sit up for like 2 weeks.

I don't know when I am going to do my TT. I thought about lipo disolve but that won't help with all the skin. It will be March maybe before I can afford it. My augmentation was $1000 more than normal because of my Fibromyalgia I have to be under General anesthesia.
