I decided to have a tummy tuck after having three children. Now I'm regretting that decision. I had a tuck, lipo of my inner thighs and a fat transfer.

At first things were fine but eight days post-op i had massive swelling in my legs and ended up in the hospital for a PE. The fat transfer was unsuccessful. So all I had to be glad about was the tuck until fluid began to build-up. I am now 4 months post-op and have been getting drained weekly for the past two-three months. the fluid build up is right above my belly button and makes it look as if I have two stomaches.

I have fluid build-up above my belly button after having a tummy tuck 4 months ago. Will the fluid ever go away or will I have to be drained for the rest of my life? Will the compression garments work? How long will it take for this fluid to go away? Also, I'm still very swollen, how long does it take for the swelling to go down?

My Doctor:

Until I got anal about the way he was caring for me the doctor was very rude. His answer for everything is these things take time. After asking for partial reimbursment because I'm leaving the area the doctor refused and requested to perform a revision surgery only I'm on coumadin and that's a risk to my health. So then he says he'll come to where I am if I can find him an operating room. Is that my responsibility if he didn't perform the procedures correctly?

massage the area daily, scar tissue underneath the skin can form and make the bulge permanent.

As I was reading your comment, my mouth was open. I am so sorry that your experience was such a bad one. Can you contact an attorney that deals with doctor's who may malpractice? You need to get a second opinion. I don't think the swelling for four months is normal. You are a mother and your health is so important. Please take care of yourself and pray for healing.

thats so awful.you really need to find out first of if and when they will stop draining the fluid plus that dr should give you a full refund without being asked.that is the responsible thing to do.if not sue him!

Hi, I hope things are better with you now. Howdid you know your condition was PE and what did the doctors do to fix the problem?

I am a nurse so I know a little about this. I had a tummy tuck by the same doctor and his results were super good. I could not be more pleased. I am sorry for your problem. In my consent I signed there was mention of the risk of pumonary embolism and swelling called "seroma". Did you know that before hand. Again I hope its better now. If you had a true pulmonary embolism you are very lucky to be alive. He cannot operate on you while your are taking the medicine for pumonary embolism as causes too much bleeding.
