First silicone implants placed in Dr office in...

First silicone implants placed in Dr office in 1974. I was happy as my breasts before were deformed. In 1992, I heard a news story about ruptured implants. I went into the bathroom and did a complete self exam, and I was shocked to feel a "bubble" under the right breast. I went to Dr, they did mammogram and saw a "dense" area however this plastic surgeon argued with me right up to minutes before he did a biopsy. He believed it was a lump. When I woke from surgery, he told me when he went in, silicone was leaking out of implant and into tissue. And said I would need to have them removed right away. My insurance company agreed to remove the right implant but refused the left even thought my Dr felt it was medically necessary. I had the right silicone implant removed and replace with a saline implant. My breast has still a indentation where so much tissue was removed in the process of removing the silicone. Four months later my insurance company agreed to pay for the left implant to be removed but only after I contacted a network news and told them my story. They agreed to help me and my insurance company did pay for this surgery. In 2003, I saw another surgeon for the painful scarring that had developed in the right breast. I had both saline implants removed and replaced with new, and scar tissue removed. It helped alot the right breast, but 7 days after my surgery my left breast swelled up huge and became very painful. I had surgery again to correct what was happening, my Dr thought it was bleeding , but when he got in there he said he had never seen scar tissue form so much and so rapidly. It is now 5 yrs after. My left breast is fine, soft and very natural looking. The right one is abnormal in shape, there is little bottom breast tissue, the right nipple visibly lower than the left one. I do not know how to rate my overall satisfaction with this procedure. I am ok today but understand I could face more surgery and complications. Or this could be it. Either way I will say fairly deciding to get breast implants is a serious decision. Do a lot of research on your own. Listen to a lot of different womens stories. Find a board certified Dr and ask questions, understand completely any possible complications. Then you will be prepared to make this decision.
