Dr. Hess was my last PS I scheduled a consultation...
Dr. Hess was my last PS I scheduled a consultation with for breast augmentation. I went with all highly rated PS's in Arlington/Fairfax/Richmond area because I wanted mine to be perfect! I didn't get very far in the consultation before I was dismissed by Dr. Hess for being transgender. He said it's because the anatomy of the chest is very different and it's a different surgery for M2F transgender people. Other surgeons and research I gathered here on realself states they're very similar; in fact the same procedure is used. I felt lied to and uncomfortable and everything else in between; short of discrimination.
Provider Review
The first thing that happen was the doctor came into the room and flopped down on a stool and dove right into my file. Everything was going fine until he asked why I was on HRT and I replied because I am transgender. His demeanor changed immediately and said that he could not do the procedure because my anatomy is so different. Everything I've gathered from other consultations and research is that the procedures are the exact same. The whole thing was insanely embarrassing.
