“Eyebrow tattoo, hated the results!”
Permanent makeup: NOT worth it
Pain: Uncomfortable
Ten yrs ago at the age of 18 I had my eyebrows tattooed in. I was young and ignorant and didn't know that "permanent" meant permanent! Add to that the fact that I didn't do enough research on the procedure or the person who did the tattoo.
Anyway, the woman (I forgot her name)who did my eyebrow tattoos made them way too dark, almost black and worst of all, way too wide so it made it look like I had dark, thick Groucho Marks eyebrows (yuck)!
I tried removing them myself by rubbing them with salts and applying retin-a on them. Sadly to say, none of these methods worked for me. I suspect that when my skin healed over, the tattoo is permanently sealed in and not much can be done after that.
Four months ago as a last resort, I consulted with a cosmetic surgeon to have him laser it off. I'm into my 3rd treatment which is spaced a month apart and the tattoos are almost all gone. He said I only need to come back one more time and it will be completely gone.
Was permanent makeup worth it? Not for me. Of course most of that was due to my own ignorance about what I was getting into. Would I do it again? No. The cost of (laser)removal far outweighs the initial cost of the tattoo but I must say, the laser removal IS worth every penny. I now have my natural brows back and would not have it any other way.
