I had abdominal liposuction in 2008, tumescent. Recovery was 4 weeks in the compression garment, no drains. I felt like I'd been flayed on the inside, like my skin was reattaching to the abdominal muscles in the wrong place then ripping off, the pain was excruciating. I was 49 at the time, now 52, and if I could turn back time I wouldn't do it.
Skin is sagging a bit, and stomach is rock-hard, "he really took it all!" like my OBGYN said. Husband used to like my tummy. There's nothing there now. Plus side I can fit into all my clothes from before perimenopause turned my abdomen into a fat farm; minus is it's so hard, somewhat uneven and lumpy and unfeminine.
