i had the gastric band fitted nov 07 and lost 10 stone. i have been going to the gym regular (most days). It didnt matter how hard i worked at trying to lose the excess skin on my tummy it would not budge.

My GP agreed that a tt was the only way i could get rid of all my unsightly flesh. i had the tt done on 15th may 2011 (im 13 days post op). i am still very swollen and also my lady bit. but i have been assured this will all settle in time. i am so glad i had this done and i know the pain, reduced mobility and bad moods will reduce over time.

I had 10lb 2oz of flesh removed. the results are fantastic and i have a normal belly button! it has been strange to look in the mirror and see all my body without moving skin out the way... its the best decision i ever made. im feeling more confident in myself already

my surgeon was patient with me and showed a lot of empathy for my problem. he put me at ease and was reasuring. he answered all my questions and discussed my fears of having the procedure done.

Hello Maaggiedee! You're right on about no longer having to move the skin out of the way! Yay!! My doc removed 10 lb of skin last March. Sounds like you are doing fine this early on in your healing! Moving around more and less swelling will come in time. Good luck with your healing. I'm excited for you and your new tummy and of course, the new belly button - LOL.

thanks cheryl. can i ask how long it had taken before your swelling had gone? although the skin has been removed im still wearing the same size clothing. i have been told this is normal and the swelling causes this but i would like to know if others have gone through the same thing. you must have lost as much as me cheryl. well done.

The swelling kinda comes and goes a bit. Most of it was first 2 weeks and centered high up (looked pregnant), then swelling went away there and I had it in the left lower side and lower middle. I'm still wearing compression garment during the day and it still feels tight. The former skin was in the way before, so now pants are size 10 (or 12 petite), but former were elastic waist stretch size 16. I lost about 145 lb, with extra 10 from skin removal, so I count it as 155 total - yippee!! Some persons just swell more than others. I try to keep sodium out of diet and remember to drink water.The waiting for final results of TT is frustrating, want to see it perfect NOW - LOL. Guess we'll both get there! I'm so very happy for you!! The TT is a wonderful reward for the hard work of getting weight off.

You are now through the worst part of the process so just hang on and it will all be better from here on out.  Before you know it all of the swelling and pain will be gone.

I maggiedee, my angel from distance. Tomorrow is my big day. I'm gona do it. Urrayyyyy I don't feel as bad as I thought I would feel, just hoping to keep feeling this good.
