Don't Waste Your Money

Not Worth It
Spent: $3,000 in Jacksonville, Florida

I tried Invisalign thinking it would be preferable to wearing metal on my teeth. The Aligners do move your teeth around, based on my experience, but they don't actually *straighten* them. After I went through an entire course of Aligners (9 months), I went back to my dentist to ask why my teeth weren't straight. He mumbled something about how it's just a "cosmetic procedure", and he offered to file down my teeth! I didn't pay thousands of dollars for him to file my teeth down. I wasn't being overly picky, I just wanted my teeth to be straighter, and here he was making excuses or trying to blow me off with this BS.

His assistant mentioned something about doing a "refinement". That's where they do another round of Aligners to try to correct the problems. He gave his assistant a dirty look. So I did a "refinement", and it still didn't straighten my teeth.

It's weird. It's like I have these two or three teeth that are clearly, obviously crooked. And the Aligners were moving all the other teeth around, straightening them a little bit, but it leaves these two or three teeth alone. I was always wondering, if they CAN move the teeth around, then WHY don't they correct these crooked ones? I asked my dentist repeatedly about when the Aligners were going to correct those teeth, and he was always promising "later", or giving me these evasive, BS responses. I never could get a straight answer out of him. I wasted a year and thousands of dollars, and my teeth aren't straight.

Anyway, long story short. Don't waste your money on Invisalign. Just go to a regular orthodontist and get braces. If you're concerned about appearances while you're wearing them, then get the concealed braces. Invisalign just doesn't work.

My Doctor: Name not provided

I don't think my dentist OR the technicians at the company who created the Aligners were genuinely interested in helping patients straighten their teeth.

For the most part, the worst reviews about Invisalign have been from people who got them done through a dentist vs. an orthodontist. I initially went to my dentist for the procedure and he told me my teeth were too "bad" for Invisalign and refused to do the procedure. I went to an orthodontist a week later and he strongly recommended Invisalign. I think if anyone is considering Invisalign, please go through and orthodontist even if it's more expensive. It's totally worth it.
