Don’t Be Talked into Botox : Make Sure You Need It!

Not Worth It
Spent: $1,000 in Stoke-on-trent, UK

I have tried a few different treatments for my smile lines and haven’t been very satisfied with any of them. I think the worst was Botox. It didn’t last very long at all (maybe three months?) and I found it to be very expensive for what I got.

The Botox was a series of needles that were supposed to freeze the muscles and therefore reduce the lines. I got it done at a day spa as part of a pamper package – mudpacks, facial rejuvenation, the whole nine yards. I didn’t like the shots at all and even though they weren’t that painful it wasn’t pleasant to have needles stuck into my face (obviously). After I left the results were supposed to gradually show up that week and I could feel a difference but I didn’t really see much difference.

I have read that combining different treatments like Botox and Restylane can improve your results but that also comes at an “improved” price! Instead I’m going to look into longer-lasting options like fat transfer (which is more natural anyway) and see if that will give me the results I’m after. I have heard that Botox is great for other places like the frown lines between your eyebrows but I can’t recommend it for that based on what I’ve seen.

I guess my biggest advice is this: Shop Around! There’s so much information out there about the latest fad procedures. Everybody looks different and everybody is looking for different things as a result. Make sure the procedures actually give you the results you wanted and don’t be talked into anything.
