“Don’t Trust Laser Hair Removal!”
Spent: $3,500 in Peoria, IL

I no longer trust laser hair removal after a series of bad experiences.
I went for laser hair removal when it first came out circa 1998. I’ll never forget the experience: all I wanted was to remove some unwanted body hair and from what I read I was the perfect candidate (light complexion with dark hair). Still, they had me sign my life away before they’d even touch me! None of the paperwork was explained to me but it was all strangely mandatory.
I went for all of my sessions on my bikini area and my legs and not only did it not stop the hair growth but I had skin reactions to the laser! I don’t know if it was burning me or what but I ended up with terrible itching and a red bumpy rash. It was especially bad on my calves and my “sensitive areas.” I finished my sessions anyway by convincing myself this was part of the process but by the time I was finished I had just flushed a few thousand dollars down the toilet. No results. They wouldn’t do anything for me except ask me to pay for more treatments.
More recently I had a friend who went for laser hair removal and it was like watching my experience on replay. She also has a fair complexion and dark hair, and she wanted it gone! It didn’t work for her either.
I don’t recommend laser hair removal to anyone. I haven’t tried everything out there but my message is “try something else!” Creams, electrolysis, or just keep shaving. It will be worth it in the end because you’ll either have spent next to nothing for no results or have paid the right price for permanent results. Either way is better than laser hair removal.
