I have been struggling with mild acne since my late teens, but it got worse when I hit my 20s... I began getting cysts and my pores were congested all the time, and I was getting scars... I tried OTC meds, Doxycicline, diet and other things, but anything seemed to be working, and my self esteem was getting lower day by day... i was using tons of makeup, only making things worse..
Finally, at 27, I decided to see a derm and given my history, suggested Isotretinoin, and I decided to give it a try... I did it for 6 months, and was a blessing... My skin is clear, even though 2 years after I finished I still have dry skin, but I prefer that rather than having big painful cysts all over my face.
The down part of the story is that during my treatment I got a nasty depression, that my derm connected to the drug and suggested me to stop right away, but I was lucky because I was almost over with the course. But if you have bad skin and feel bad all the time because of it, go for it.. Just be sure to go to the doctor regullary and pay attention to every sign of your body, in order to have a safe and happy treatment
