Made it to the Dominican- On my way to Meet Dra. Baez

Well we touched down in the DR yesterday afternoon. The airplane ride wasn't that bad. We got our tourist card and in and out of the customs line within 5 minutes. I read this on another review and just have to confirm that the people at the airport were rude, will step on and over you to get their bags and have no respect for spacial boundaries. That being said, these were people visiting the DR and not the nationals. We were met by the brother of our host. He speaks a little English but put us at ease. We get to the apartment and the owner of the apartment and her sisters were here to greet us. Nothing but nice and sweet people. We go comfortable and went to the grocery store. The apartment is gorgeous, quiet, and relaxing. The water pressure is low but not a huge problem.

We are leaving in a bit to meet Dra. Baez for our consultations. I can't wait to meet her and pick my implant size.

By the way, please, please, please brush up on your Spanish before you get here. Even with the translator app you may be lost. People don't want to wait for you to type their conversation into your phone for a response. The most important thing to know are your numbers so you can count your money and discuss prices.

Well I will update after the consult!

Can't Sleep- 4 Days and Counting

I can't think of anything but this surgery at this point. We have four days before we leave for the Dominican. Everything is straight, we've rented a wonderful apartment, hired a nurse, cook and taxi driver. We already had passports so that wasn't an issue. We've been packed for a week or so now but just trying to make sure we have everything. I still need to buy the chux and wipes.

We will be going to the grocery store once we get there to stock the apartment. We have relatives that will be coming down to stay with us a few days as well. The owner of the apartment has a sister that is a nurse and the other sister will cook for us.

Dra. Baez confirmed receipt of our payment. She is such a doll. Everything about her is calm, nice, and caring. I do believe she is the best doctor for us.

Well I will try to update once I touch down in the Dominican this weekend!

Deposit Made - Hotel- Airfare- Everything done

As you can see from the quote above, my husband is going with me and he is having surgery as well. We wired the money to Dra. Baez towards our surgery. We sent the majority of the money so we won't have to travel with all of that cash. I am so relieved and less anxious now that the money has been sent. We've been saving for a couple of months for this.

I've reviewed several recovery homes and read mixed reviews of all. There is something about being in a home with multiple strangers with open wounds and who knows what other ailments that turns me off. My husband is also a very private person. So we decided to rent an apartment. My husband was just looking at price and decided on a small aparthotel. However, I just showed him the pictures of the hotel yesterday and now he is adamant that we stay somewhere really nice. So we are looking at either the Hilton or an apartment with a nice balcony. We are flying on JetBlue and arriving on a Sunday with our consultation with Dra. Baez on Monday and the surgery on Tuesday. So that Sunday we will more than likely just chill and rest and go out to eat a nice dinner. Tuesday we will spend the day getting our consult, prepping the hotel or apartment for our stay and going to the grocery store.

I am also reading mixed reviews on massages. I know a few people that had lipo and tummy tucks here in the states and they weren't allowed to get massages until six months out. I am interested in hearing what others think on this.

Packing has already begun. My husband brought some scrubs to wear and I have a couple of maxi dresses. The supplies I am taking are pretty much standard. I'm also taking my WiFi speaker (I have to have my music), some playing cards and games to keep us occupied. Our kids all have either Google Voice or Whatsapp. I think they are happy to get a break from us. I've told a couple of family members and a handful of co-workers. Some opinions I value and some people I just want to tell to shut-up. I know they mean to be helpful but still.

The countdown is on. I am so anxious and excited that I cannot concentrate

I haven't had the procedure yet but Dr. Baez has been nothing but responsive and kind. She responds to my emails within 24 hours and I am also able to reach her by cell phone with questions. Dr. Baez always returned my calls and Whatsapp messages no matter the time of day or night. After the surgery she constantly checked on me and made sure I had what I needed. Her, her husband and brother in-law were a Godsend. The results from my tummy tuck is wonderful. The scar is thin and low. I didn't use not one pain pill afterward
