Abdominoplasty with rectus muscle repair. I look worse than before surgery....am in the process of trying to find out why. Its turning out to be a lengthy process and is emotionally, very draining.  I did it because I looked 4 months pregnant...large lower bulge.

It should not be that big. Mine gets bigger as the day goes by and it has been 7 months.
i dont think they repaired your muscles! id definatley go back and talk to your PS about it because there is no way that they sutured your muscles together.
Hi, Iseley. Have you gotten any help with your abdomen? What have doctors said? Have you had any more surgery? If so, what was done? I the same issue: a protruding abdomen due to weak fascia, but no muscle separation, after a full tummy tuck. Doctors have suggested more plications or mesh and/or component separation. I don't know which to try. Would love to hear how your doing!
No Unfortunately.Have had a few opinions from various surgeons here in the uk. One has said that Mesh may help, But I dont have the money to get it done and my husband doesnt really want me to risk another failiure. It still affects me badly emotionally even 3 yrs on now. I hate my tummy and it grieves me so much as 3 yrs ago I was looking forward to being more body confident....and now I am less confident than before. Jane G..... look up Dr Hunstad in North Carolina....Thats where I would be going if I had the money. That guy wrote a book on abdominoplasty and obviously knows his stuff. Look at his book 'Atlas of Abdominoplasty' keep me posted how its going.x
So sorry to hear you're not any better, Iseley. Do you know if your muscles are still separated or not? You can probably tell just by feeling. Mine are not separated and so it's just allover laxity and somehow that is apparently harder to fix. I am seeing another doctor soon. I have heard of Hunstad and will check out the website. Please check back with me around late spring. I really hope to try more surgery after the holidays. Hopefully all of us with this problem can compare notes and find someone to fix it. Good Luck!
Hi Jane, no I have no separation at all apparently the muscles are tight together. Just the same as you it is a lax abdominal fascia. Please keep in touch, its so good to know I am not alone !!![RS bleep]
