I had thermage in Nov. 2008. At first thought I had totally wasted my money, but at about 4-5 months, noticed both eyes drooping less, mouth turns up instead of down now.

Best though is what it did for the overall qulaity of my skin - have always had pretty good complexion, but as I turned 50, noticed it was looking weary. It is now much smoohter and softer, effects I didn't expect.

Husband had it too - no longer has to pull his neck up to shave as it smoothed and tightened the loose folds over his collar. He is thin, was jsut an age issue I think.

My plan is to have done every 24-30 months and hoefully just avoid any knives - do NOT want a scalpel! Can get done 4-5 times for same cost as facelift! Took vicodin during.

Go Penn State, this is my plan...to do thermage every two years or so. If I can avoid real surgery and still look nice, what could be better?

It is indeed sad that some people have experienced negative results with Thermage. It is a fairly costly procedure and should be performed as patiently and expertly as possible to get the most potential response. Because every person has different biological capabilities as far as collagen regeneration, results WILL differ from one person to another. Proper parameters for the heat delivery will prevent the excess "bulk" heating that results in fat loss. This was an issue when Thermage was first on the market when some practioners became over eager in their attempt to push the limits. Safe and effective treatment levels now prevent accidental overheating while providing firming results that most patients appreciate. In our practice we always take photos of patients before and months after treatment. As Thermage is a subtle and long term process, it is only after 4 to 6 months that the true effects can be appreciated.
