- 29 Nov 2012
Even though I requested to have my large labia made "medium", I ended up with tiny, unnatural looking labia - if you can even call them labia now. According to her assistants, Dr. Rodgers removes this amount of tissue - or more (!) from everyone she performs this procedure on, because the majority of women seem to want a "Barbie Look". I did not want my labia amputated. I thought I was clear about the amount of tissue to be left so I didn't insist on seeing her cut lines drawn before she butchered me. [If you decide to do this procedure, please bring photos of the look you want AND ask to see the lines drawn where they plan to cut on the day of the op!] My husband was opposed all along because he loved my large lips. I totally regret ever messing with anything. Not only is there a serious lack of lip, but one section near my clitoris is obviously uneven, even six weeks post-op ("scalloped"), perhaps from stitches that were too tight, and this will probably need revision in 2013. [The follow up and after care for this procedure is extensive....and was not explained in sufficient detail beforehand.] Whatever doctor you go with, be sure you are in the right frame of mind to make this major decision. It's a relatively small amount of flesh, but it makes a makes such an impact on your psychological health. I will never be the same.
My Doctor: Christine Rodgers, MD
My rating:
I chose Dr. Rodgers because she's an experienced, local female doctor. This was a BIG mistake. Even though she botched my labiaplasty, she refuses to refund my money; she won't admit that she didn't give me what I wanted. I rated the after care and such with more stars because her staff was very attentive and helpful. They made the experience less horrific.
