Post scar revision

I'm now a little more than a year after scar revision (and almost 2 years after original surgery). I couldn't be happier. My "first" results were great, but I totally respected the thoughts of Dr. Vath for the need to touch up the scars. Scar revision was painless and looked better the day of the revision! A month out, it looked pretty perfect to me. Best thing I ever did for me!

7 months post-op update

So I'm a little more than 7 month post surgery. This is the first chance to really reflect on the whole experience. Again, I can not say enough positive about my experience with my surgeon and his office (Dr. Steven Vath in Denver at the Center for Cosmetic Surgery).

For those that are considering breast lift/implant surgery, I wanted to add some more information about my experience post op. Recovery was not without a few hiccups. Because of the size of my implants (600cc), the healing took awhile longer. There were a few places that took months to heal & looked pretty icky. I was assured by my surgeon that this was not outside of the normal healing experience. He also added that he'd like to do scar revision after 6 months post-op (out-patient, no down time, and at no further cost)

As far as the recovery is concerned, I was so excited about getting this done, I didn't really care how painful the recovery would be. Discomfort really wasn't bad (my hubby took really good care of me!) although the valium kept me pretty out of it. Getting up out of a seated position required help and breathing felt labored (I think the size of my implant definitely made this worse!) This only lasted about a week and none of it was awful. I would really quantify this more as discomfort rather than pain. Bruising was definitely noticeable but nothing outside of what I expected. The very worst part of the whole experience for me was removing the steri-strips. Just a suggestion, do NOT try and do this alone. I'm pretty tough, but I almost felt like that my nipple was going to come off with the tape (I did wait the prescribed 3 weeks). An exceptionally gross experience. I was concerned about the way my nipples looked after the tape came off, but I shouldn't have. I chose my surgeon after months of research and I had (and still have) complete faith in his skills. I think there was some moments of "holy [RS bleep], I didn't think it was going to look this bad", but those were few and didn't last more than a few days before I saw amazing improvement.

After surgery, my breasts felt hard as rocks for a month or two & it took that long for them to "drop". I was warned about that and that my breasts would seem really high up on my chest. They almost felt like they were sitting on my collarbone. I was surprised post-op how small my breasts seemed compared to what I expected... It definitely takes time for the muscles to relax and swelling to subside before you can decide if you are truly pleased with the size. I couldn't be happier. I think if I had it to do over I might have gone 50ccs bigger, but it's a challenge to find a bra in 38F. I can't imagine how much tougher it would be for a "G" cup.

There is still some numbness. Nipple sensation is less than 50% of what it was before, but it is definitely returning. The underside of my breasts (towards my sides) is still almost without sensation. The loss of sensation is much more frustrating for my hubby than it is for me... the difference in my self-confidence about my body far outweighs any loss of feeling.

I love, love, love them and I would have this surgery again 100x over. In fact, it has inspired me to continue the mommy makeover part 2. My tummy tuck is scheduled for the 9th. They will do a scar revision for my breasts at that time. I'm nervous but hopeful I will be even 1/2 as happy as I am with "the girls!"

6/19/13 5 5 5 5 Breast lift with silicone implants. Procedure on 5/20/13. How do you go about expressing gratitude to someone who completely changed the way I feel about my body? I'd lost a 1 1/2 cup sizes of volume after breast feeding. After meeting with a few surgeons, the difference to me was clear. Dr. Vath's before & after results were spectacular. His staff was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. My meeting with Dr. Vath made him completely stand-out from the other surgeons that I met with. He's approachable, patient, and professional. He takes time to answer questions and has one of the greatest bedside manners of any doctor I've ever dealt with. Dr. Vath has the hand of a top notch surgeon with the eye of an artist. My results have so far exceeded my expectations. 4 weeks post op & significant parts of the incisions have already disappeared. I would recommend him to ANYONE! My first thought every morning since surgery is "I love my body again!" Dr. Vath ROCKS!
