I've tried most hair removal methods, really the only one left was laser electrolysis. About 8 years ago I had the themolysis style electrolysis with a needle. Hurt like heck, went through something like 20 sessions and all the hair was back in about 4 months. Had 20 hours of pain invested in something that didn't last long term. I have quite a bit of hair, but, the only area's I'm really concerned about are my chin and neck as I end up with 5 o clock shadow. Everything else I can maintain with daily shaving, but, being a female with a 5 O Clock shadow is simply not acceptable.

I am basically the poster child for an ideal candidate, very white with very dark hair. However, I have been controlling my hair with a half hour of tweezing every evening in addition to my twice daily shaving, so, it may be awhile before all hairs are in active growth to even be treated. Anyhow, found a place local to my home and decided on a whim to give laser a go.

First thing that impressed me was how fast it was. Other than the 20 minutes or so of talking through the procedure, the actual hair removal on my chin and neck took around 2 minutes. Fantastic! Last time I had regular electrolysis, it was three sessions before we'd been over all the hair once. Yeah, I know, a lot of hair.. My skin was immediately smooth where before I would feel stubble a couple hours after shaving. I was thrilled. BUT, then the next morning, I was covered in more black stubble than I'd ever noticed before. Worse than that, something about the hair had changed, it would not effectively shave off. I got what looked like acne all over my neck. The next day, a few hairs were long enough to grab with a tweezer. I did not tweeze them, just tested them, but, they all felt firmly anchored and I was a bit disappointed thinking perhaps it hadn't worked at all.
I found the only way to remove these hairs was to dry shave. Fantastic for a rash, right? Anyhow, probably about 5 days later after dry shaving, I noticed a decent amount of white stubble like material that came off when I scrubbed it gently. I've still been shaving everyday. It's over two weeks now since I had the laser hair removal. Today I had the day off from work so I skipped shaving to see what would happen. 24 hours post shaving, I have just about no stray dark hairs and can feel only a very minimal stubble in one small spot, the spot that was the coarsest and darkest.

I don't expect this to be a permanent solution since the needle electrolysis, which is supposed to be more permanent, was anything but. However, the place I found does $25 touchups. So, even if I have to go in every couple months for a touchup, it would still be a significant improvement over what it has been.
