10 week pictures

Technical difficulties... Let me try to load the pictures again :)

10 weeks post-explant

It seems like it has been much longer than 10 weeks... My body feels back to normal and my activity level is normal too... In fact, better than it was before my explant. I can tell that there are slight changes over time as my skin and muscle tightens but I am perfectly thrilled with how everything is now. At first I was a little worried because things seemed very... Liquidy, for the lack of a better description, but I realize now that I was partly just not used to seeing natural breasts and that my breasts also just needed a little time to reform and retract a bit. That appearance of liquid when I move is gone now (and it wasn't a fluid issue in my case, I never had any complications). The scar seens less visible to me than it was before the explant (under breast, same site for both surgeries) and in every aspect I just couldn't be happier.

Unlike most women, I really didn't have any...

Unlike most women, I really didn't have any terrible health consequences with my saline, under-muscle implants... The opportunity came for me to get them, I thought, why not?, and a few weeks later I had gone from a very small B to a D... I didn't have any complications from surgery, everything healed nicely, and they looked appropriate for my body. I say this because there must be other women out there dealing with the same situation: no matter that the implants didn't cause huge issues, they just didn't seem "right".

For years, I became more and more aware of the feeling of something foreign in my body... Again, no pain really, just a constant awareness of something that didn't belong... Nagging... I would feel them when I exercised, when I laid down, when I put on my seatbelt... Eventually it bothered me so much that I just had to have them out!

Dr. Melmed and his staff were wonderful. He reassured me that I wasn't crazy for being so bothered by the implants, and out they came. I wasn't sure if I would write a review but today, 8 days after my surgery, I know I made the right choice and I want to share in case anyone else is dealing with a less-than-tragic situation but just doesn't feel right about having implants anymore.

I will say that the first time I saw them, when the drains were removed, i expected to be disappointed but I was so happy with what I saw! I really can't imagine why I thought I needed or wanted implants in the first place!

If you are anywhere near Dallas and you are considering explant, go see Dr. Melmed. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor. It just so happens (and this came up AFTER I had selected him) that he also did my sister's very successful breast reduction 10 years ago, AND the office gives a discount for teachers. :)

Easy-going, professional, funny and relaxed yet straight down to business, direct answers to direct questions, great office staff, really good people, and the results of the procedure speak for themselves... You get the feeling that these are 'normal people' and not the hoity-toity that you get at some cosmetic surgery centers. Immediately comfortable with the dictor and staff.
