I went back and forth with the decision to have my breasts done for years. I had my first consultation at 21-22 years old and never felt 100% sure so I did not have the surgery done. I always had small boobs. I liked to call them my "tic tacs". They were always some version of an A cup. When I was in high school it was a more full A cup which I was happy with, as I got older, they got smaller and I found myself unable to shop in stores like Victoria's Secret, and forced to buy bras at stores that catered to teens. I have a petite frame and I never wanted "big" boobs. However, I always thought it would be nice to have a little more. I sat on the decision for years and finally settled with "why not".
Breast augmentation has become so common that I did not see it as a big deal. This was my personal choice and I felt comfortable with my decision. I waited until I was 27 and felt that I was no longer a young girl making a big decision.
I asked for doctor recommendations and ultimately settled on Dr. Marcelo Ghersi. Upon visiting his facility, Plastic Surgery Institute Miami, I only felt better and better about my decision. I was greeted by Natasha at the front desk. Natasha became a familiar contact over the course of my procedure and follow up. Natasha always greeted with a smile and an uplifting tone.
On the day of my consultation, I met with Dr. Ghersi, who advised me about the procedure, risks, statistics, timelines, expectations, and anything other questions I could ask. Dr. Ghersi made me feel like I knew EXACTLY how I would look when I got out of surgery. He made sure I was calm and level headed and that I had fully thought out this decision prior to surgery. Next came the fun part! The lovely Gaby helped me try on sizes. This was an experience unlike my previous consultation. Gaby set me up with a bra and inserts that would show me exactly how I would look with different cc's. Dr. Ghersi advised he would not recommend anything higher than 350cc on my body. I was between 250-300 since I have a petite frame and wanted to keep a natural look. I ultimately decided on 275cc, that would put me at a full B after my surgery. I oped to have the incision done under the breast instead of through the nipple. I made this decision because the risks were lower by a few percentage points, and I wanted the lowest possible risk of losing sensation or having issues breast feeding later on. Once my breasts dropped after the surgery, they would cover the incision anyway.
After meeting with Dr. Ghersi and Gaby, I sat down with Jules to review cost. Jules was bubbly and helped put me at ease. We reviewed all the costs, she explained to me how the pre, during, and post of my surgery step by step. She gave me all the materials I needed to know how to take care of myself. Jules was the closing deal to secure I definitely wanted to do my surgery with Dr. Ghersi. 3 weeks after my consultation, I was having my surgery!
The Plastic Surgery Institute facility was immaculate. Everything was beautifully decorated and brand new. I felt like I was being taken care of in a top of the line facility. I am not one to look for "a great deal" when it comes to having any surgical procedure (I also had Lasik 4 years ago). I want to make sure I am being treated by the best, not the cheapest. I was perfectly comfortable with the price point of my surgery, and I think it was worth even more than what I paid.
Dr. Ghersi is a perfectionist, and my new breasts look PERFECT.
The day of my surgery, I was not very nervous. I felt I was in great hands. My biggest nerves were at the IV. I HATE needles. I did everything exactly as I was told to prepare for surgery. The "miami mojito" kicked in, and next thing I new... I HAD BOOBIES! It was quite exciting!
My recovery was much better than I expected or had heard from friends who had their breasts done. I think this was partly because I did not go for a larger size. I had the procedure on Thursday and was back to work on Monday. I spent 4 days hanging on the couch watching tv. I was able to walk around with little discomfort, and had my boyfriend and mom available to help me with everything else.
My next day, week after and month after follow ups all went perfectly. Dr. Ghersi said I was a textbook case. I massage my new additions on a daily basis and use my scar cream every day. My incision was about 1 inch wide and is barely noticeable. It is still healing to its final but my breasts already cover it up. Dr. Ghersi advised after 6 months, it will heal to the same color as my skin.
All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Dr. Ghersi was pleasant and professional every step of the way. From my initial meeting during my consultation, I felt comfortable and safe in his hands. He is very knowledgeable and was able to explain exactly why breast implants look differently on different women even when the surgery is performed by the same doctor. He wanted to make sure I still looked like myself and advised from the beginning what he recommended for my body. He walked me through the procedure and made my mom feel very secure that her daughter was being operated on by the best! I could not be happier at my decision to go with Dr. Ghersi. I have already referred 2 other ladies who will be having procedures with him as well. Highly recommended.
