It's Surgery Day!

I had my pre-op with Dr. Roudner yesterday. I was actually nervous going in to the pre-op because I didn't know what to expect, but everyone at his office was so nice that they made me feel immediately comfortable. I really can't say enough nice things about his staff. They are wonderful! His office is also nice. I parked in the parking lot across the street to avoid paying valet service.

I got in an hour early but he saw me right away and we had a little chat about the risks, etc and his preferred approach (under the muscle via periareolar incision). I then went into an examination room where he took my measurements and showed him my wish pic. Unsurprisingly, he told me that I had small areloae but that he would still attempt the periareloar incision. Worst case scenario, if he could not fit the silicone implant through he would have to put in saline implants and have me return for a re-op in 12 weeks at no additional cost to me. He said this has never happened in his 30 years of practice, but I am still wary of the periareolar incision. I have read that it carries greater risk of loss of nipple sensation, ability to breastfeed and capsular contracture. I don't think that it was worth it for a more concealed scar and I am likely to tell him today that I would prefer an inframammary incision, esp. since I really do have small areolae (you can see for yourself in my pics) and I don't like the idea of the surgeon having to squeeze through a silicone implant through a tiny incision when there are other easier options available.

After that, his nurse came in and we went over the medical forms again that I had signed and sent in by FedEx. She gave me instructions for pre-surgery and post-surgery and then we discussed size. I tried on sizers and settled on 300 - 325 cc. I say "settled" deliberately because I was very tempted to go bigger, but decided that it was just boob greed and that would be the ideal size for me. I am still not convinced though and might actually change it to the 325cc - 350 cc range. An extra 25cc can't hurt right? The nurse did say (and I've also seen this from reading real self reviews) that after the swelling subsides most women wish they had gone bigger. I don't want that to be me.

I was also able to meet with the anaesthetist who gave me instructions on when to stop eating etc. My surgery is not until 6 p.m. so it will be real torture for me to go the entire day without eating, but I have no choice. My surgery was originally scheduled for 5 p.m. but he has a full day and thinks he is likely to run late. I had agreed to move it to the following day, but since I am flying out on Sunday, Dr. Roudner did not want to shorten my recovery time before flying. He is so very careful with everything and I really do appreciate him putting my safety first. I will also have to fly back to Florida the following week for my final post-op to remove the sutures and to be taught the massage technique. I had spoke to another surgeon who said I could have a local doctor remove the stitches if I wanted to rather than flying back to see him. That would have saved me another $400 airfare, plus he was about $1700 cheaper than Dr. Roudner, but I appreciated that Dr. Roudner wouldn't compromise on my safety and I thought I shouldn't either, just to save a buck. I am so very happy with my choice.

Well, I am off to fill my prescriptions now and to keep myself occupied so that I don't think too much about this evening. Wish me well!

Only 2 weeks away!

My BA is exactly 2 weeks away and I'm beyond excited. Naturally, I'm also quite nervous too. At this point, I'm using every chance I get to look at boob pics to choose my ultimate wish pic, which I will give to Dr. Roudner as his inspiration before my surgery. It's sooo hard to choose just one. Any tips on where I can find good frontal pics?

Hi Real Self Community!

I've been apprehensive about doing a review but the reviews of others here have been of such great assistance to me that I had to write my own. I'm a pitiful A cup and I am hoping to become a small C using moderate plus profile Mentor silicone under the muscle inframammary incision. So excited! Looking forward to sharing my boob journey with all you lovely ladies.
