I had my lower stomach bulge cool sculpted 8 days...

I had my lower stomach bulge cool sculpted 8 days ago. The procedure itself was pretty simple, however, once the head of the machine is suctioned off of my skin...this frost bitten peircing pain lasted for ten minutes. Wasnt sure if i was hot/cold or going to vomit. After ten minutes, i felt completely fine. The only thing I am curious of now, is the pain that started in the numbed sensation part of my lower stomach two days after the procedure. It is now day 8 and the pain is intolerable...is this to be expected??

Great review?

I am currently at day 6 and just started the stabbing pains- I was so shocked that the swelling was so extensive!! I was told that there would be some slight bloating but on day 2, I looked like I was expecting twin elephants!! At this point, I would not recommend this to anyone

Well, the procedure is intentionally inflicting frostbite to the area; why would an MD who has given this any thought be surprised that there is likely going to be nerve damage associated with it?

The experience you describe is something that few people experience following a CoolSculpting procedure. I'm sorry you had so much discomfort. Prior to your next treatment you may wish to ask if the physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner in the practice would prescribe Neurontin if this occurs again. During the CoolSculpting procedure, there will be intense cooling for a few minutes. Some people find this uncomfortable, but the area soon becomes numb and people can relax and feel quite comfortable during a treatment. Following the treatment most people continue with their day normally with little to no discomfort. Over the course of a few days, some people feel mild discomfort similar to the feeling one might have after a workout. On occasion, significant discomfort has been reported. The patients who experience significant discomfort are almost always patients who have had treatment with a single large applicator administered to the lower abdomen area. In my practice, we offer compression garments like the ones we use for patients following tummy tucks or liposuction. This has seemed to provide additional comfort and support to patients. On occasion, a patient might find relief with a non-narcotic pain medication called Neurontin. This can be prescribed by the doctor or the physician assistants and nurse practitioners in the practice. However, most patients do not require medication following a CoolSculpting procedure. I also had a tech/ master esthestician perform mine. I selected the large device and one area was treated. She also explained that the fat would be released into the lymphatic system, not blood vessels. There would be no chance of fat causing an embolism. She let me know exactly what I'd probably experience because she'd actually had it performed too. I did have incredible pain immediately when the device was removed:/. She didn't seem to understand that..I and many others would confirm that it was real pain. Just expect more than bruising. I had lots of bloating, deep numbness and itchiness. You will not usually see results until at least one month after. I am at 3 weeks post. I can definitely tell the bloating is almost gone. Idk if I'd say I see a lot as far as results, yet! If you have questions that you feel can't be answered, contact Zeltiq directly. I hear they are very helpful.

i had cool sculting of my abdomen last friday. first of all, the consultation was just done by a technician and no dr. saw me before or after. the technician didn't know the answer to my questions. i wanted to know how the dead fat cells were excreted by the body.also would they cause fat emboli? i had so much pain during the procedure that they gave me 1,000 mgs of tylenol which help subside the pain but not completely. i also had so much bruising. i haven't seen any results yet. the tech was really nice and made sure that i was fed and stayed with me during the procedure but didn't have much knowledge of the questions asked.

It takes up to 4 months to see final results. If you weren't comfortable without seeing a Dr or the technition's answers, you shouldn't have done it.

The dead fat cells are cleared like any other debris, that is, through the lymphatic and ultimately, urinary system. No chance of fat emboli. I am finding that wearing spanx or other compression garments keep the pain to an occasional stabbing pain...though it surprises me that that is what relief is like, I am not yet regretting it...too much. I'm at day 8 and my real pain started on day 5. Though I'd intended to re-do this in two months, I'm rethinking that decision.

Yeah, neurotin made me really sleepy too and same with Tylenol 3, but the codein takes the pain away better than the neurontin did. Lidoderm was great for providing a barrier between my clothes and the pain on my stomach.

Before I got the Lidoderm patch I did take a Vicodin that I had left over from back pain. It made me sleep for sure, so I didn't notice the pain. You can't ( or shouldn't) take narcotics and word, drive, etc. You can work while on neurontin and Lidoderm. The neurontin can make you a little drowsy- start with 300 mg three times daily. You can up it to 600 mg three times daily but don't start with that dose. You can also take the 600 mg neurontin just at night. ( Of course with your doctors approval) I also added generic excedrin to help as an analgesic and perk me up with the caffeine. Just don't take if you are also using other aspirin or acetaminophen products like Tylenol #3.

Tylenol 3 also works for the pain! I wasn't convinced, but after trying it, Tylenol 3 worked better for the pain than Neurontin or Lipoderm did for me. Just something else to try if Neurontin or Lipoderm patches don't work for you as they didn't work so well for me.

I'm on day 5 and in intense pain. I am supposed to get the nerve medicine tomorrow. I just feel stressed out that the pain is just going to get worse every day. What day did you girls feel was the worst?
bettieblueskye 3 Sep 2012
Days 7 and 8 were the worst. However, once I added the lidoderm patch to the Neurontin my pain was well controlled. Pain was completely gone by Day 12 and I'm thrilled with the results. ( Had lower abdomen done 5 weeks ago ) Best of luck to you! I feel that it was well worth it.

My Dr prescribed me the Neurontin but would not prescribe the lidoderm patch. I'm really hoping this takes the edge off. I had to leave work early today. Maybe I will try the tyleonol 3 if it doesnt work.

That's bizarre- would like to know his rationale. You could always go to a "doc in a box"- (urgent care place) and see if they would prescribe the lidoderm for you. The Tylenol #3 will help you rest. Hope you're feeling better soon! :)

3 on the belly, 2 on outer thigh & 1 on inner thigh. I do Weight Watchers & work out with weights 1-2x/week, swimming & water aerobics 2-3x/week. No matter what I did, these spots never went away.

i posted earlier that i was in pain at about day 7. it was awful, and i had that heavy feeling too. however, at around day 11, it started going away. i'm not at about 6 weeks - no pain, and i'm seeing lots of results. my husband is amazed and people keep asking if i'm losing weight. 6 weeks ago i would have said i would never do it again, however, now i'm going back 1 more time. hang in there. i promise it will get better.

Thanks for the reassurance! I have done this as I surprise for my husband, who is overseas. I have about 2 months for the results to show before he's here! I hope it wasn't a waste.

Do yoy meanday 11 after the pain started or day 11 after the intervention¿ I am on day 10 after the pain started and in intense pain¡

Im at day 3 after my treatment. Tons on numbness! Slightly tender to touch. Feeling oddly stiff/heavy feeling in treatment area. Let me tell everyone, I was very uncomfortable during the entire hour procedure. I never went numb, as the nurse promised. When the device was removed I experienced excruciating pain! The nurse seemed to think I was being dramatic/ imagining it!! Nope!! It was terrible, I cried for ten mins.. Hoping I don't experience anymore of it. I would not have it done again. :/

Has anyone had the fat come back with a vengance? Mine did and I look worse than I did before. I gained 3 lbs and it seems that the pooch sticks out like it has lost it's integrity.
