I did my homework before getting my breast...

I did my homework before getting my breast reduction (insurance paid all but about 600 of it). Dr Wakelin was the 3rd doctor I saw. I went off of ratings on here (wonderful tool). The first doc had problems billing my insurance, so I ended up at CAPS, they are a big operation and they had my insurance approve the operation in 3 weeks from when I visited the doc to when I had an approval letter in hand. I was able to schedule the surgery 2 months later. Dr. Wakelin is incredibly kind and genuine compared to the other doctors I met with (must be a plastic surgeon thing, maybe they see alot of fakeness). Either he is genuinely empathetic or one hell of an actor. For me it was important, I have had obscenely large breasts most of my life, never thoguht I would be getting plastic surgery, and in general have a distrust of doctors. This whole this wasn't comfortable for me to do but CAPS was great and everyone there put me at ease. Dr. Wakelin was a good fit for me becuase he seems to genuinely care, and has that high degree of empathy. Back to the procedures, I decided that I would get a tummy tuck too to remove the mass of skin tummy mess that happens after childbirth. I have always been apple shaped even in perfect shape, so I knew once the boobs went this would make me even more self conscious about the apple. I had also lost 10 pounds prior to the surgey and still had all that skin, so something drastic needed to be done. The operation is very intense. They prepare you for this, but it is important to know that these two together is tough. It is very hard to lift yourself because you cant use your arms (puts pressure to the chest area) and you cant use your core. You have to have help and be prepared to lay around a lot. Some things I wish I had better instruction on: wound care, how to clean it and how often. I also wish I had had a second binder similar to the one they provided. That thing was gross and I couldnt leave it off long enough to wash it. I did wear mine ofr 8 weeks, and needed to. I am now 5 months post op. I have never felt more beautiful. I was a healthy weight before the surgery but now I am more defined, less apple-like. I love my new boobs. It is an art for to be able to remove that much flesh, and leave 2 perfectly shaped breasts. They hang right, with nipples so even you could put a level on them. This is why you do your homework so that you don't spend the rest of your life with mangled boobs. Dr. Wakelin is an artist, and I now have breasts that look better than they ever have. Even the bra lady at bordstrom said "wow he did a good job" and I bet she's see her share. I cannot recommend this doctor enough, he and his staff are knowledgable, kind and incredibly talented.

High level of empathy, incredibly talented, very genuine. And this is all from someone so distrusting of doctors she chose to have 2 children at home.
